I do the calculation immediately.

So does Blaire.

Her original two-week assignment is gone.

“How far does that push the negotiation?” she asks.

“If everything moves cleanly from here, closer to five weeks,” Clara says.

Blaire’s face changes.

Not dramatically.

Enough.

She looks down at her phone almost immediately, then back at Edward.

“Five weeks in London?”

“That’s the conservative estimate,” he replies.

Helena’s voice comes through the speaker.

“We can do some of the work remotely once the Geneva file is digitized,” she says.

“But there are still several stages where having you here would make the process easier.”

Blaire nods, but her attention has already shifted elsewhere.

I watch her unlock her phone, scan something, lock it again and place it face down on the table.

“This is going to be a problem,” she says.

The words are quiet.

More troubled than irritated.

That catches my attention.

Professional delays happen. Blaire knows that better than most people in the room.

This reaction is different.

“Is the extension going to interfere with something?” I ask.

Her eyes cut toward me.

“Yes,” she says.

Nothing more.

I wait.

She does not elaborate.

Clara looks between us, then returns to the file.

“We can still push the Geneva request today,” she says.
