My Soul to Keep

Maybe the trick wasn’t sex. Maybe it was Luc, his mouth dirtier than anything I’d ever heard before and the idea of using his tail to get me off? God, the memory was enough for my dick to stir again.

Luc felt it, and chuckled. “What an insatiable little virgin…”

He licked into my mouth again, trailing a hot path down my chest and stomach to clean me. I swallowed against a dry mouth, throat sore from screaming. Luc handed me the glass of water I kept on my nightstand and helped me to sitting. Once I’d taken a few sips and came to my senses, I looked at the devil standing next to my bed, who was trailing light touches up the tender skin of my thighs and watching me expectantly.

“What the hell just happened?”

Chapter 12

LUC

I knew exactly what the hell had just happened–Tate had just unknowingly participated in a demon mating ritual.

While he used the bathroom, I returned to the living room to take in the scene. Since no audience awaited us, I assumed that the guests had left.

Three mirrors sat in the living room, positioned in a triangle to face each other.

Mirrors should never face each other—it would lead to a whole sea of problems and someone might see something they’d otherwise wish they hadn’t.

Between the mirrors and the few words I’d managed to catch from behind Tate’s bedroom door, I knew exactly what they’d done.

Legend had it that during a blood moon, if three mirrors were placed facing each other and a specific chant was said out loud three times, a demon could be summoned. Most times, it didn’t work—demons and devils weren’t necessarily summoned or spawned from nothing. It was more that we were directed to where we needed to be, and who we needed to be with. Ever since I first got the urge to transfer to Creelin U, fate had been working in the background to make sure events lined up perfectly.

From the looks of it, Carter was nowhere to be found either. I even checked the dark corners of the cupboards, fully prepared to be ambushed by a sneaky black cat.

“What are you doing?” Tate asked. He approached me from behind, wrapping his arms around my waist and burying his face in my back, right between my wings. I didn’t even bother to hide the shiver it sent down my spine, and blanketed his hands with my own.

“I was looking for your demon of a roommate,” I said in response to his question.

“Oh, trust me—there’s only one demon in this room. What do you have against Carter?”

“He likes scaring me.”

Tate fell silent, long enough for me to take a step away from him and turn around to face him. “You’re scared of cats?” he asked, realization settling in his pretty eyes.

“Not the point.”

He smiled, and I swore my heart skipped a beat. “He texted me that he was going to Sam’s dorm to give us some privacy.”

“Was that before or after I had my tail wrapped around that pretty cock of yours?”

Tate squirmed. “Luc…”

“Sorry. I guess it’s time to talk.”

“Before the whole sex thing starts clouding my mind again, please?” Tate squeezed between two of the mirrors and collapsed onto the couch. He’d changed into plaid pajama pants and a plain T-shirt and for the first time since the day we met, I got a closer look at his perfect body without it being hidden by baggy clothes. The loose fabric gathered in his lap grew tighter beneath my attention, and he blanketed it with his hand and squeezed. “Who knew sex could be so fucking addictive?”

I smirked. “It gets worse when it’s with your mate.”

“Mate?” Tate parroted.

“Yeah,” I sighed. “I’ll explain; I promise, but can we move these mirrors first?”

“Is there a risk of another devil popping up to jerk me off?”

A growl emanated from my chest that I didn’t even know I was capable of.

“Woah—jealous much?”
