It was going to take so many shower sessions to calm myself down if he wanted to play the gentleman.
“You can think about me in the shower…”
Heat flooded my cheeks. Luc kissed the breath right out of my lungs.
“You can keep moaning my name in bed…”
Fuck, had he been watching me?
No, no. That was impossible.
Then he sucked heat to my neck, and any concerns I had about it went out the fucking window.
“Get yourself used to saying my name, Tate. Take your time because when I finally have you, I’m going to spend hours making sure you feel the kind of pleasure that no one else can. Deal?”
“Deal,” I panted, nearly losing my damn mind before I hauled him into another kiss.
What followed was the most infuriating two weeks of my life. When Luc told me he wanted to take it slow, he apparently meant at a glacial speed. I’d been spending so much time in my bedroom and in the shower that I think Carter was beginning to grow concerned.
I’d known he was the one to send Luc over with my food—I’d caught him filling the plate. After the… incident at the frat party, I couldn’t bring myself to talk to Luc–despite Carter’s insistence that he didn’t think I was a pathetic virgin. I should have known that he would start scheming from that moment forward.
I’d thank him for meddling later—once I finally got Luc in my bed.
Or ended up in his bed.
Hell, in a supply closet.
Whichever was closer.
We’d been warned that the rapidly approaching blood moon would change the vibe around campus, but I truly underestimated what it would mean.
Monsters were going crazy, losing their tempers or bursting into tears at any given moment. Shifts were uncontrollable, making sitting through a whole class difficult. If someone wasn’t running out, I was apologizing for yelping at a sudden shift beside me.
Luc especially had been… distant, but I found myself wondering whether I felt that way because it was actually happening, or because I was being overly clingy.
After my last class of the day, I walked with my head down, deep in thought about Luc and didn’t see anyone coming toward me until I was on the ground.
Something crashed into me and I could only describe the sound I let out as a squeak, right before me and my attacker toppled to the ground. “Shit,” I murmured, only drowned out by the other guy’s quiet curse.
It was Chris—Carter’s brother. I blinked, trying to gather my surroundings. Chris gently brushed the back of my head and heat rushed to my face.
“Tate, my man,” he said, untangling our legs. “You alright? Did you hit your head? Should I call someone?” He was rambling so much that I could hardly get a word in edgewise. “Like Dr. Lee or an ambulance? Or… Carter?”
The look on his face said he’d rather call Satan himself than his older brother.
Chris’s face was flushed from exertion, and his dark hair was plastered to his forehead with sweat. His brown eyes shone, even in the overcast light. Damn, he was gorgeous. Just like his brother.
I’d never been this close to another man before, not enough to study him like this.
Well, except for Luc.
I squirmed—thinking about him with Chris on top of me was a bad idea. I only blushed harder, and remembered that he’d asked me a question. “I’m fine.”
“You sure?” Chris jumped to his feet and hauled me up with him, drawing another squawk right out of me. Shit, he was strong. “I can walk you to the nurse.” Then he clapped his hands together. “That’s right! You’re with that transfer—the demon, Luc, right? I can call him.”
“He said that?” Smooth, Tate. I shook my head to clear it, collecting my backpack from the ground. “N-no, you don’t have to bother him. I’m fine, really.”
After assuring Chris one more time that I was truly okay, I offered to help clean up his scraped knee and elbow, but he declined and took off running in the direction of the dorms.
