“I can’t wait. I’m so happy for you.”

The love we have as sisters is a bond we’ll share forever. My sister never quit looking for me. When others told her to give up, she never did. She went to Hell and back.

“Thank you. It’s been a long time coming, but good things come to those who wait, right?”

“As long as you tell him from me that if he breaks your heart, I’ll cut his out and serve it for supper.”

“Deal.” I smile to myself. “I’m going into a meeting, but call you later?”

“Yes, I want all the juicy details, don’t leave anything out.”

“Goodbye!” I roll my eyes, drawing out the word.

“Later. Love you.”

“Love you too.”

I head toward the back of the clubhouse, feeling a spring in my step.

“Why are you so chipper?” I ask Ruby when we almost collide in the doorway of church. If I’m not mistaken, she’s humming a tune.

“Mornin’ to you, too.” She smiles. To be fair, in all the time I’ve known her, I’ve never seen her in a bad mood, but today, she almost has a glow about her.

“Sorry, I didn’t, uh, get much sleep last night,” I confess, quickly adding, “after all the shit with the Crows.”

“Yeah, those assholes are askin’ for it,” she says as we make our way into the meeting room. “Rumor has it one of the bikers is in intensive care, and the other is being questioned. Diamond will know more from Nash.”

Sapphire and Pearl are already here, and they greet us when we enter, but there’s no sign of Diamond, or Onyx yet.

Dustin is still not back from feeding the horses, but he’ll be here soon. I try to keep my thoughts PG after what he just did with his tongue, but it seems Sapphire has also noticed Ruby’s good mood. Thank goodness, because it means I’m off the hook.

“You’re looking like a woman who just had her panties stolen off the washing line,” Sapphire snarks as Ruby sits at her usual spot on the left-hand side of Diamond, who is always at the head.

“You were fixin’ to use that line, weren’t you?” she replies. “Because you’re only gonna pester me all mornin’, I’m happy to announce my dry spell is over.”

“Thank the lord almighty.” Pearl puts her hands together in a prayer symbol, making us laugh. “That might mean the mood will be a little less tense around here. First Diamond, then Sapphire—”

“Hold your horses,” Ruby declares. “I didn’t say I was fallin’ in love. I had a fun night with a much younger man, and it was hot. The sex was mind-blowing.”

My eyes almost bulge out of their sockets. “Tell us everything!” I demand. “Who is he?”

She shrugs. “Some guy passin’ through. I don’t think I caught his name.”

“Jesus,” Sapphire snickers. “Seriously? There’s some gas still in the tank after all.”

“I’ve never been with a younger man, but I may have stumbled upon somethin’,” she goes on, then she whispers behind her hand, “They’re up for anything. They care more about your pleasure than theirs, and they go all night,” she drags out.

It sounds like I wasn’t the only one who had amazing sex last night, though, unlike me, this isn’t Ruby’s first rodeo.

Pearl shakes her head, her shoulders shaking with laughter. “It’s way too early for this conversation.”

“Sorry I’m late.” Onyx comes barreling through the door.

“Not you too?” Sapphire pinches the bridge of her nose.

“Not me too, what?” Onyx asks, sliding into her seat.

I fill her in. “Ruby had hot sex with a younger guy who went all night, she didn’t get his name and has no plans to see him again. That’s why she’s humming.”
