Mrs. Harris looked back at me. “Come on in. He’s in the kitchen acting like he hasn’t been asking me when you were getting here all afternoon.”

“I asked once,” Mr. Harris called from somewhere inside.

“Three times.”

“That’s still closer to once than all afternoon.”

Luna looked at me, smiling.

I shook my head and followed Mrs. Harris inside.

Mr. Harris met us in the dining room and shook my hand before I set the box on the table.

“You brought all of them?”

“Everything y’all ordered.”

“Good. Maybe now she’ll stop asking me if I think they’re going to look different printed.”

“They do look different printed,” Mrs. Harris said.

“You haven’t seen them yet.”

“I know they do.”

Mr. Harris looked at me.

I lifted my hands. “I’m not getting in it.”

“Smart.”

Mrs. Harris pulled out the chair closest to the box. “Can I open it?”

“They’re yours.”

That was all she needed.

I moved the box closer and opened the top before taking out the first wrapped stack. I’d checked everything before we left, but I still watched while she removed the paper around them.

The first picture was one of the posed shots from the beginning of the session. They were standing together beneath the trees, his arm around her waist and both of them looking at the camera.

Mrs. Harris smiled.

“Oh, I like this.”

“You said you didn’t like that dress,” her husband said.

“I don’t.”

“You’re wearing the dress.”

“And I still look good.”

He looked at Luna. “You see what I’ve been dealing with for ten years?”

Mrs. Harris didn’t even look up. “He likes the dress.”

“I didn’t say that.”
