His breath against my neck.

The way he knew exactly what I was asking for without making me ask twice.

My body tightened around him.

“Ellis.”

The tension finally broke, pleasure rushing through me hard enough that I pressed my face into his shoulder and held on.

He stayed with me until it passed, his breathing just as uneven as mine before he finally went still against me.

For a while, neither of us moved.

I was breathless beneath him, one hand still curled against his back when Ellis finally lifted his head.

“You good?”

I laughed because apparently he was determined to ask me that in every possible situation.

“Very.”

His mouth curved before he kissed me again, softer this time.

Later, I was tucked against his side beneath the covers, wearing one of his T-shirts while my clothes sat somewhere near the foot of his bed.

Ellis reached over and plugged my phone into a charger on his nightstand.

I lifted my head.

“You just have an extra charger?”

“Yeah.”

“In your nightstand?”

“That’s usually where extra things go.”

I looked at him. “You have an answer for everything.”

“Most things.”

“That confidence is irritating.”

“Your phone is charging, though.”

I looked at the cord running from my phone to his wall.

“Okay. Fair.”

He turned off the lamp and slid back beneath the covers.

I moved toward him before he even got settled, tucking myself against his side.

His arm came around me.

“Comfortable?” he asked.

“Very.”
