She didn’t move away.

My hand settled at her waist.

“Still okay?”

“Yes.”

I kissed her.

This time, there was no office chair between us or storefront beyond the walls. Nobody could walk past a window and remind us where we were.

Luna’s arms slid around my neck as I drew her closer, and the kiss deepened almost immediately. She pressed into me, one hand slipping into the hair at the back of my head as mine moved up her back.

She caught my bottom lip between hers, and whatever control I’d walked through the door with got a little harder to hold onto.

I broke the kiss long enough to breathe.

“Luna.”

“I know.”

“No, you don’t.”

She looked at me.

“I do.”

Her fingers curled into my shirt.

“I asked you to come home with me for a reason.”

I slid my hand along her jaw. “What reason?”

Her eyes narrowed. “You know the reason.”

“I want to hear you say it.”

For a second, I thought she might tell me to go to hell.

Instead, she stepped closer.

“I want you.”

The words hit harder than they had any right to.

I looked at her.

She didn’t take them back. Didn’t soften them or add anything to make wanting me sound smaller than it was.

I kissed her again.

Her back met the counter, my hand settling beside her as I left enough space between us for her to decide how much closer she wanted me.

She closed it herself.

Her arms slid around my neck, pulling me against her, and whatever restraint I’d been holding onto started slipping.

I pulled back just enough to look at her. “Bedroom?”
