“Money, guns, information, and favors. Whatever somebody needed moved without anyone asking questions, he did it for them,” Razor said. The bastard actually sounded proud of his old man.
“And my father?” she asked.
“Viper thought he was running an MC,” Razor said, shaking his head. “He didn't realize half the people around him answered to someone else.”
Ghost looked at Crow, and the poor guy looked sick. “Did you know?” Ghost asked him.
“No, not all of it,” Crow said.
Razor laughed. “You knew enough.”
“Fuck you,” Crow spat.
Angel's voice cut through them. “My mother figured it out.”
Razor looked at her. “Yes.”
“And that's why she died,” she breathed.
Razor paused. “Yes.” Ghost felt Angel sway, and he caught her hand again. She didn't pull away.
“Who killed her?” she asked.
Razor closed his eyes. “Angel.”
“Who?” she shouted.
Razor opened his eyes and looked at her. “My father.” Angel went perfectly still, and Ghost's grip tightened around her fingers as Razor continued. “He killed Elena because she found the network. Viper found out later.”
“And that's why you killed him,” Angel whispered.
Razor looked away. “My father ordered me to kill Viper.”
Ghost's jaw clenched. “You were still taking orders from Daddy?”
Razor glared at him. “You don't know what that man was like.”
“Don't care,” Ghost said.
“He owned people,” Razor said. “He owned me.”
Ghost almost laughed. “Everybody's got an excuse.”
Razor's eyes narrowed. “Think you're different?”
“Yeah,” Ghost said.
“Why? What makes you different from the rest of us?” Razor asked.
Ghost looked at Angel. “Because if someone told me to hurt her, I'd kill them first.”
Angel looked at him, and something changed in Razor’s expression. It wasn’t amusement, but maybe understanding, or even envy, but Ghost didn't give a shit.
A motorcycle engine sounded in the distance, and everyone turned toward the barn doors. Mayhem and Riot returned. Ghost expected them to come back into the barn; instead, his phone rang. Ghost answered. “What?”
“Got a problem,” Mayhem said.
“What kind of problem?” Ghost asked.
