“No!” she shouted back.
Ghost's voice came next. “She's definitely pissed.”
“You think?” Jackhammer muttered. Angel stared at the door. Those idiots were going to get them all killed. She should leave through the fire escape. She should let them stand there until they got bored and went away. She should—
Someone knocked again. “Angel,” Jackhammer said, quieter this time. “Open the door, baby.” Damn him. How dare he play with her emotions. Before she even knew what she was doing, she unlocked the door. Jackhammer filled the doorway, and Ghost stood behind him. Both wore their kuttes, and both looked pissed.
She noticed that they were armed, and Angel's relief disappeared. “What are you doing here?”
Jackhammer's eyes dropped to the duffel bag, and his expression hardened. “Going somewhere?”
“None of your business,” she spat. Ghost pushed past Jackhammer, and Angel stepped in front of him. “Excuse me?”
He looked down at her. “Move.”
“This is my apartment,” she insisted.
“Not anymore,” Ghost said.
Her mouth fell open. “What the hell does that mean?”
“It means somebody was inside here,” he said.
Angel's blood went cold, and Jackhammer shut the door. “How do you know?” Neither answered, and Angel looked between them. “How do you know?”
Ghost walked toward the bookshelf, and he pointed at the picture frame. “Dust.”
She frowned. “What do my lack of housekeeping skills have to do with any of this?”
He picked it up and studied it. “There’s dust around where this normally sits. Whoever moved it didn't put it back exactly where it was.” Angel stared at him as Ghost's eyes moved to the bedroom, and the clothes scattered across the floor, and then to the open dresser. “What did they take?” he asked.
“Nothing,” she lied.
“Bullshit,” Ghost growled.
“Get out,” Angle hissed.
“No,” Ghost said, crossing his arms over his chest.
Jackhammer stepped closer. “Angel.”
She turned on him. “You too.”
“No,” Hammer said.
“I didn't invite either of you here,” she insisted.
“Don't care,” Ghost said.
“You don't get to—” she started.
“We know about the Nomad Knights.” Everything inside her stopped. Angel stared at Jackhammer, and the room suddenly felt like it tilted beneath her.
“What did you say?” she asked.
Ghost leaned against the wall. “We know about the Nomad Knights MC.”
Angel's hand instinctively moved toward her purse, and Ghost noticed. His expression softened. “We're not here to hurt you.”
