Because I knew what happened at eight.
My eyes drifted towards the clock at the center of the grounds.
6:04.
I groaned.
One minute?
Seriously?
“You know staring at it isn’t going to make time move faster Rave.”
I looked over at Willow.
The last year has been good to her. Somehow she got even more beautiful. Her curly hair now had highlights in it and she wore it down.
I caress my own hair as it lay straight over my body.
Why I decided to straighten my hair in this heat was beyond me.
Especially knowing, hopefully, I will be running for my life in the next few hours.
Wink.
“I wasn’t staring.”
“You’ve checked it about four times since we walked in.”
“Have not.”
“We’ve been here for ten minutes.”
I look back at the clock. “Exactly. Plenty of time for four completely normal checks.”
She stared at me, a smile gracing her lips.
I smiled back at her.
“Come on. Let’s get some food.”
“Raveeeee.”
I turn to hear my name being called by no other than Charlie.
Not even having time to reply back, he scoops me up in his arms and twirls me around.
“Put me down!” I shriek as a laugh bubbles out of me.
He sets me back down before looking down at me.
After we left, and were in the parking lot, he tried to make a move on me, to which I politely declined.
I understood that all of our emotions were heightened due to the chaos we experienced, but that didn’t mean i was ready to lock lips with my friend.
Especially, when I was thinking of someone else completely.
His hair was cut shorter, and he looked like he filled out his flannel shirt more than last year.
