We don’t even know one another—

Seraphine meets my lips with hers, which is the opposite of what I thought would happen. I thought she’d break the spell and turn away, as any sane person would.

Her stuttered breath is swallowed by my moan of approval, my lips opening against hers, my tongue caressing hers in a dark dance.

She pulls back. “I am so sorry. I shouldn’t have done that. Sometimes, I don’t think and—” I cut her off with another kiss, this time angling over her, my hand on the floor on the other side of her thigh.

I press her back into the wall, crowding her with my size as I devour her mouth.

Her mewling comes with her hands on my cheeks, one sliding into my hair. Her nails sink into my scalp, sending a mind-numbing tingle chasing it.

“Fuck, who are you?” I breathe, pulling back and pressing my forehead against hers.

“Likewise,” she mirrors my earlier words.

“A few more minutes, Boss,” Wallace says, breaking the moment and thrusting us back to reality.

“Shit.” I stand with no way to hide the clear erection in my pants, reaching a hand down to help Seraphine off the floor.

She slips back into her shoes and looks up at me through hazy eyes. “I’m not going to lose my job for this, am I?”

“No.”

She nods, turning toward the elevator doors. I can tell she’s trying to compose herself, but my eyes are scanning up and down her beautiful backside, only furthering my intoxication as the seconds tick by.

When the elevator opens, she bolts toward her desk, never looking back at me before it closes.

I don’t blame her.

I don’t know what the fuck that just was. All I know is, I want more.

“He’s out of control,” Benji says, rubbing his beard. “We agreed he could stay out of the limelight and work from home, but that was on the contingency that he didn’t drop the fucking ball. Consider the ball dropped and deflated at this point.”

“I get it. Can you get me some more time with the board? Stall them for a bit while I figure this out?”

He scoffs. “You think you can get him back on track? Really?”

“I’ve got to try. I can’t let this fucking place implode.”

“Well, the board is prepared to put you in charge in his stead.”

“I don’t want the job. Besides, this is all Lucien has.”

“Then you’d think he’d keep up with work.”

“He’s been going through some shit lately. Just… get me some time, please?”

“Alright, but I don’t think I can get you much. Better get his ass turned around, or this company will be auctioned off to the highest bidder, and that’s not what this town needs, Kyrin.”

“I know, I know.”

Benji leaves my office in a huff, already on the phone with board members, as I sit back and ring my office manager on speakerphone.

“Yes, sir?” Aria answers, having fielded my call on caller ID.

“I need someone to work at the estate. Do you have anyone?”

“Lucien again?” she asks sadly.
