Whispers of the Dead

by K.M. Mixon

“God, yes,” I breathe, gripping onto the bedsheets with my left hand, digging the wand’s vibrating head into my clit harder. “Yes!”

A breeze brushes behind me, and I momentarily wonder if I left the window open, but I’m so close to coming undone I can’t stop.

There’s no way to…

“Fuckkkkk,” I cry out, dropping my face into the mattress and moaning out every calamitous wave of my orgasm as I scream into the quilt.

Another breeze at my back stirs me back to reality, and I gasp, standing straight and whipping around to find no one behind me.

But the door’s open.

Wide open.

I closed it and locked it.

I know I did.

Did someone just watch me come?

Fuck…. Kyrin?

Clicking off the wand, I shove back into my panties and pants, rushing out of the room. Heartbeat at ten thousand beats per minute, I look left and right, finding no one.

I bolt down the stairs and find Kyrin at the bottom.

“Hey, what’s wrong? Are you alright? You’re flushed.”

I feel the flush deepen as my brain tries to process it. “Where were you?”

“Downstairs. I had to take a phone call after I spoke to Lucien.”

The noise before…

“Oh, but you weren’t…?”

“What’s wrong? Are you alright?”

“I’m fine,” I breathe, shoving a hand through my hair.

“You don’t look fine.” He puts the back of his hand to my forehead. “You look like you have a fever. Maybe we should do dinner another night. You look like you need some rest.”

“Yeah. Rest.” I let him lead me back to my bedroom, which is still empty, the door still wide, and I feel like I’m losing my fucking mind in this house.

It won’t be long before they escort me out of here in a straitjacket.

THE WHITE LADY

LUCIEN

Icould kill him for bringing her here. This is the only place I have solace. This is also the only place I remain, but still.

Kyrin knew better.

Something’s wrong with her.

Unbeknownst to my brother, who’s delusionally fawning after her like a fucking schoolboy, she sits by the window at night and chugs liquor like she’s burning away something dark inside her. Something that still wins, though I don’t think she realizes it.
