I just have no idea why I feel that way, and I can tell through the bond that Raidon can't explain his odd feeling either. Her scent, for some reason, feels familiar, which should be impossible.

"Thane is going to kill us," Raidon groans when we hear things breaking in the basement. We both glance at the basement door before I reach over and grab the bag Tania dropped off. I rummage through the paper bag and slide the suppressants to Raidon across the counter.

"Nope, now way. I can't go back down there. It was hard enough forcing myself to leave her once," Raidon tells me. I growl, knowing I will have to. I’m not sure I’m strong enough to handle it either, but we need to before Thane gets home. He’s going to kill us. No, he’s going to skin me alive, boil my damn organs, and feed them to Raidon for our stupidity.

The possibilities are terrifying. I don't have time to ponder, however, because I hear the garage door: Thane’s home.

Raidon looks at me in panic. I swallow nervously, and my heart thumps erratically in my chest so hard it feels like it is creeping up my throat. Her scent has muted a little, yet it is still potent, and there is no way he will miss it.

The sound of the door smashing against the wall makes me jump. Leon growls, rushing through the place and bolting straight toward Raidon, who moves to grab him but misses. I tackle Leon, pressing him against the wall before he can grab the door handle, only to stiffen when Thane's command rolls over me. His aura makes my back straighten. Raidon whimpers while Leon fights and pushes against me to get free.

"Let him go," Thane snarls, tossing his keys on the counter.

"Thane!" I panic, knowing Leon would feed on her.

"He’s a glutton. He will be passed out and blood drunk long before he kills her," Thane snarls. I let him go when I can no longer fight against his command. Leon disappears, and Raidon whimpers as he busts through the basement door before Thane glares at him.

Raidon, the behemoth, buckles under the pressure of his aura first, dropping to his knees. My knees bite painfully into the tile floor when he turns his anger on me seconds later.

"Who thought it was a good idea to bring her here?" Thane asks, his voice deadly calm and ice cold.

"Mine," I grit out through clenched teeth. The noise that leaves him is a roar as his aura forces me completely onto my hands and knees before him, when Raidon speaks.

"Her apartment isn't secure. We couldn't have taken her there, even if we tried," Raidon growls, and I turn my head. The effort to do so is painful as I look at him.

"So, you thought bringing her here and putting her in our Den was the better option?" Thane bellows, when suddenly, Zara whimpers. Thane's aura falters, and we all stare at the basement door, knowing Leon got his fangs in her. Yet her whimper turns to a moan from the endorphins of his bite and her heat.

I sigh.

Chapter Thirty-Eight

~Rhen~

I look up at Thane, who sniffs the air, and his brows furrow in confusion. I watch him swallow. The same strange feeling Raidon and I had about her scent rolls through the bond from him, too. At least I’m not the only one imagining it.

"The suppressants?" Thane asked as he gathers himself and forces his gaze from the open basement door.

"We can't get close enough to her, not while she is like this," I admit, and he looks down at me. When she cries out in pain again, I can only assume that Leon has passed out.

"Fix it. Fix her, and get her out of my house," he says, reaching for the suppressants and dropping them on the ground in front of my face. I stare at his shoes, unable to look up and meet the furious gaze that I can feel bearing down on me.

"Thane, I can't go down there," I plead with him, and he growls.

"Use protection," he spits, and my stomach drops before he walks out, slamming the door to the garage as he goes. His aura drops, and I face-plant onto the floor before pushing up on my hands into a crouched position. Seconds after getting up, I fall on my ass as I hear his car tear out of the driveway. I lean against the counter and stare at Raidon, who is also trying to catch his breath.

"Did he just give us permission?" Raidon asks, just as shocked as I am. I nod, but I can't help but wonder what Zara would have to say on the matter.

No doubt, in this phase of estrus, she wouldn't care if we fucked her. Hell, she would probably beg us to. Yet it feels wrong without Thane and without her being coherent. Looking at Raidon, I can tell through the bond that he feels the same.

Snatching the suppressants off the floor, I stagger to the basement door and descend the stairs to find Leon passed out, drunk on her pheromone-fueled blood with Zara snuggled up beside him amongst the cushions. I let out a sigh and hear Raidon come down the stairs behind me.

"I'll help you," he growls, staring worriedly at Leon. The moment I step onto the cushioned floor, Zara shifts her weight. Her breathing changes. She is as delirious as Leon is drunk. She rubs her face across his chest like a cat marking its territory.

I grip her ankle, and she freezes, turning to look at my hand before her eyes go to mine. I can see she is completely crazed with heat, yet seeing her like this, I know I can't take advantage of her state. No matter how good she smells. It would make me no better than the other Alphas in that alley. Zara purrs, crawling over to me before she pounces, tackling me and shoving me on my back. The air leaves my lungs in a short wheeze.

"Raidon!" I wheeze out before he stomps down the steps and drops into the cushioned space. He hauls her away and starts purring, clutching her squirming body to his chest.

"How do you want to do this?" Raidon asks while she licks any exposed skin she can get her tongue on. A heat builds inside of me that I know I can't give in to, not while she’s like this.
