I could hear music playing from her bedroom. The door was open, so I walked right in. It’s almost like she was waiting for me because when I walked in, her head was already turned, waiting to see who it was. The second she confirmed that it was me, she finished what she was doing.
“Damn. I can’t get a fuckin greeting or nothing?” I asked, walking over.
I took a seat on the ottoman, while looking at her. She stood there in just her bra, and panties. Since that was the only thing she had on, I was able to see her baby bump a little this evening. It wasn’t dramatic, but it was enough to glance and confirm that she was pregnant.
“I don’t know how to deal with you these days, Hitta. I never know what kind of mood you’re going to be in. Sometimes, you come over here and you want to be all lovey dovey with me. Then, there are times when you come over here, and you treat me like you resent me. Like, you hate that it’s me, and not Poison,” she said, pulling sets out of a boutique bag, and placing them on the bed. I’m sure she was getting her looks together for the night. Trying to see what she wanted to wear.
Her duffle bag was already on the floor too, and there were items inside. She had her curls pinned up, and I knew that she probably wouldn’t take the pins out until she arrived at the club.
“I know you don’t like when I speak about Deja in front of you, but you know I loved that girl. I still love her. When me and you were fuckin around, I never made it seem like she was someone that I was going to leave one day. You knew where we stood. I was sloppy with my actions, and you got pregnant. I can’t change that shit. I lost someone that I love, and because of that, I’m not going to always be in the best of moods. Bear with a nigga though. I’m fuckin trying,” I said, trying to be nice because she always made it seem like I was mean to her all the time.
She didn’t say anything else after. She continued to pack her bag in silence. While she did that, I kept my eyes on her.
“Why you getting ready so early? You usually leave out later than this,” I said.
“Yeah. Blue texted all of us early, telling us that Poison wasn’t coming in again for another night, so I’m going early. You know when she doesn’t come, he rides us even harder,” she explained to me.
“That nigga got her calling out of work? When we were fuckin around, she used to act like she could never call out,” I said out loud, but I wasn’t really talking to Joy.
She was pissed that I said it too because she sucked her teeth and threw the set on the bed that she was holding in her hands.
“Hitta, go! You not about to sit around me, and dwell on that bitch. Go! Let me finish packing my bag so I can get the fuck out of here!” she snapped on me, her voice cracking in the process, and then tears started falling.
“Man, I ain’t dwelling on shit. I should have never said that shit out loud. You right. My bad,” I apologized, reaching my hand out, trying to pull her my way, but she really wasn’t trying to fuck with me. That’s when I had to stand up, wrap my arms around her from behind, and start kissing on her and shit.
I really did fuck with Joy. I didn’t have the kind of feelings for her that I had for Deja, but I fucked with her. Even though all we really did was beef every time that I came around her, my feelings were growing. Maybe it’s because she was carrying my child. I didn’t like putting her in her feelings and making her cry. Because that was the case, I finished kissing on her, apologized again for the shit that I said, and before I knew it, I was bending her over on the bed, having my way with that pussy. She let me to.
The way I was fuckin her, you would have thought that I loved her. At this point in my life, I think it was clear that Deja wasn’t going to come back, so I had to give the dick out to somebody and handle them in the same manner that I used to handle Deja. Joy just happened to be that somebody.
CHAPTER 5
DEJA MCCOY
“Come on, auntie fat man. You going to sleep with auntie tonight. You happy?” I cooed at my nephew, as I took him out of his car seat.
We just pulled into the parking garage at Wolf’s place. I texted Wolf earlier, asking him if it was fine if I came over with my nephew. He didn’t have a problem with it, telling me to bring him with me, so here we are. I held his little body in my arms, and once he was secured, I grabbed his diaper bag out of the back, along with my purse.
The plan was for me to drop him off with his dad, but Juvie reached out to Nari earlier, telling him that something had come up, and he wasn’t going to be able to watch him. Instead of having my sister argue with her baby daddy, I told her that I would bring Nico home with me. I actually needed to come home. I’ve been sleeping on the couch, in the chair, and in that little ass hospital bed with my sister for the past two days.
They were still monitoring Nari. Tomorrow, they will decide on what they wanted to do with her. Our mom was at the hospital right now with Nari, so she wouldn’t have to be alone. We were all making sure that Nari was getting love and support. My God mom, Eden, Lyric, Dream, and everyone has made it their business to come out to the hospital and support Nari during this time in her life.
I made it inside the building with Nico on my hip, and his nosy butt was looking all around, trying to figure out where he was. He was going to be five months in a couple of days, but he was already so advanced. He knew he was in unfamiliar territory, and that’s why he was looking around like this. He paid attention to everything. He watched me as I pressed the button for the elevator, and once we stepped onto it, he looked around, paying attention to the lights, and all the buttons that were inside.
I pressed another button, so it could take us up to Wolf’s floor, and the second we started shooting up, he released a little whine, and his small hand gripped onto my shirt, as if he was afraid. Wolf stayed high up, and at times, it felt like we were in the elevator flying. I know that’s the feeling that Nico felt, and that’s why he was clutching my shirt, and looking at me like he wanted me to continue protecting him.
“We’re okay. When we get inside, I’m going to give you a bath, wash your hair, give you a bottle, and you can go to sleep. That’s cool?” I asked him, as if he was going to be able to respond to me.
He never answered me though. He just laid his little head on my chest, and before I knew it, we were stepping off the elevator.
I walked the long hallway to get to Wolf’s place. I didn’t do that thing that I used to do, where I would knock on the door, waiting on him to answer. Instead, I typed in the code that he’d given me, granting us entry. The second I walked in, I smelled food cooking. I had no idea what Wolf was making, but it smelled amazing.
I stood here, removing my shoes, and placing on my house shoes that were sitting by the door. I sat Nico’s diaper bag, along with my purse down on the table, and headed for the kitchen. This is where I spotted that fine piece of man standing in front of the stove, mixing around whatever was inside.
Wolf eventually turned his head around, and he looked towards Nico and I. Naturally, he smiled when he saw me, but he smiled even bigger when his eyes landed on Nico. My nephew didn’t have a clue where he was, so timidly, he continued to rest his head on my chest, looking ahead of him at Wolf. Wolf stood there in a black tee, black cotton shorts, with house shoes on his feet. His long hair was wet and curly. You could tell that he might have washed it when he showered. He swaggered his fine ass over to me, kissed me on my forehead, and looked down at Nico.
“What’s up lil man? You chilling with auntie?” Wolf asked Nico. Of course, Nico didn’t respond, but he kept his eyes on Wolf.
Wolf eventually reached his hands out, wanting to hold Nico, and I just knew that my funny acting nephew was going to cry, and leave Wolf hanging but he didn’t. He leaned his body forward, going for Wolf, as if the two of them went way back. Wolf was such a big giant, so he carried Nico in one arm like it was nothing.
