Dane glances at me. “Learn anything?”
“Yes.”
“What?”
“You’re very impressed with yourself.”
His mouth twitches.
He hands me the ax. “Your turn.”
I take it and position another log.
“Feet wider.”
“They’re fine.”
“They’re not.”
He steps behind me.
His boots nudge mine farther apart.
Then his chest presses lightly against my back as he reaches around me and adjusts my hands on the handle.
Every thought leaves my brain.
“Here,” he says. His voice is right beside my ear. “Grip it lower.”
“I’m gripping it.”
“Wrong.”
“You’re very critical.”
“You’re holding an ax.”
His hand closes over mine.
“Loosen this one.”
I do.
“Other one tighter.”
“Dane.”
“What?”
“I can’t concentrate with you standing there.”
His beard brushes my temple when he lowers his head. “Why?”
I turn slightly. His mouth is inches from mine. “No reason.”
“Thought so.” He steps away.
Bastard.
