Every person in the room went still.

I answered on speaker.

“Detective Langley.”

A man breathed quietly on the other end.

Then he whispered four words.

“Ask Rylie about Cabin Nine.”

The call ended.

Rylie backed away from the table.

Trigger caught her.

“What happened in Cabin Nine?” I asked.

She stared at the photograph.

“I don’t know.”

Max stood.

A low growl formed in his chest.

Rylie shook her head.

“No. That isn’t true.”

“What do you remember?”

Her eyes filled with fear.

“The box wasn’t the only thing hidden there.”

The room fell silent.

Rylie looked at me.

“There was a girl in Cabin Nine.”

“Who?”

“I don’t remember her name.”

“Was she a camper?”

“No.”

Rylie’s voice broke.

“She was locked inside.”
