The caller laughed again. “Still worried about Mason Walker, Judy?”

I went cold.

Judy stared at the phone. “You know who he is.”

“I know everything about you.”

“Then you know threatening him would be a mistake.”

I looked at her.

Not because of what she said.

The words came out sharp, immediate, and personal.

The caller noticed too.

“Some feelings never die, do they?” he asked.

Judy’s face hardened. “Eight women did.”

“And you still haven’t figured out why.”

He had watched her long before Max, and I found her.

Judy remained calm. “You left the phone, the eagle, and the map. You wanted me to come here.”

“I wanted Rylie to remember.”

“Remember what?”

“The promises they made.”

Rylie stepped forward. “I’m here.”

Trigger tried to stop her, but she held out her hand.

Judy hesitated before giving her the phone.

“This is Rylie Tate,” she said. “What do you want me to remember?”
