Judy moved carefully but didn’t hesitate.

I followed her down one level and then across the metal landing toward the neighboring building. Wolf and Havoc had already reached the roof from the alley stairs.

The fishing line was on the roof.

So this was where he'd been watching from.

I aimed my flashlight toward it.

A small fishing reel had been fastened to the vent with a black plastic clamp.

Will joined us a few minutes later.

He crouched beside the device.

“Don’t touch it.”

“I wasn’t planning to,” Trigger said.

“You’re standing three inches from it.”

“I’m looking.”

“You look with your hands.”

“I do not.”

Rylie called from the window.

“You do too.”

Trigger glanced back at her.

“You’re supposed to be inside.”

“I am inside.”

“More inside.”

She closed the window until only her face remained visible.

Trigger looked at me.

“She never listens.”

“You married her.”

“I was distracted by her personality.”

Rylie opened the window again.

“You mean my body.”

“That too.”
