Sling throws his head back and laughs. “Alright, babe, I didn’t want to sound like a dick, but you’re forcing my hand here. Your lawn looks like shit and I was sick of looking at it.”
My mouth drops open.
I can’t believe he just said that.
I look around my lawn at the parts he hasn’t mowed. It’s a little overgrown, but it’s not that bad. The way he said it makes it sound like the grass is up to your knees when it touches your ankle, max.
“My lawn doesn’t look like shit!”
“Babe, it does. The last time it was mowed was almost three weeks ago when you had some dumb fuck do it. I thought I was going to have to call an ambulance if he nodded off one more time on the rider.”
“It wasn’t three weeks ago,” I mumble.
Okay, maybe it was.
A guy came into the club about a month ago who said he had just started a lawn care business and was trying to build up his clients. I hate doing any sort of yard work unless it involves me lying in the sun with a drink in my hand. So I thought it was a win-win.
I hadn’t really thought about it until just now.
I paid him a month in advance to come once a week.
He hasn’t been back since, and now that I think about it, I haven’t seen him back in the club.
Damn, I got scammed.
“He take your money and run?” Sling asks, reading the emotion on my face.
I tilt my head as I look back at him. “It’s none of your business what happened. You can go back to your house. I’ll get someone back over here to finish.”
“No sense in doing that when I’m already here.”
“Why are you so damn annoying? I never saw you, and now you’re everywhere. I’m surprised you haven’t tried to crawl up my ass yet.”
Sling’s lip tips up. “Ass play has never been my thing, but watching yours is my new favorite thing, so I’ll give it another go.”
Of course, that’s where his mind goes.
“Get off my lawn!” I yell at him as I walk back to my house, not wanting to entertain this anymore.
“And there’s that ass,” I hear him say after me.
I can’t stand him.
If he keeps pushing me, I can’t be held responsible for my actions. He brought it on himself. Especially if he and Russ start… whatever it is Russ wants to do.
Probably something sleazy if both of them are involved.
I’ll have to find a new job. It will suck, but maybe that’s the push I need.
As soon as I’m back inside my house, I hear the lawn mower start up again, making me grit my teeth. I look out my window to see him finishing my lawn.
Fuck it.
If he wants to finish, it will save me the hassle of trying to find a new company on such short notice.
I grab my laptop off my coffee table and plop down on the couch to search for lawn care companies in my area as I toss my phone down on the cushion next to me. Some of the ads are so cheesy it makes you think it’s a gimmick and I don’t want to get scammed again.
I hover my cursor over an ad.
