“Yeah, it’s that. But it’s also the day he told you he wants your ass back in his house, which isn’t fuckin’ happenin’.”
My heart stops and I feel like I can’t breathe.
“Hey.” Ink’s deep voice barely grabs my attention. “Deep breaths.”
Closing my eyes, I slowly breathe in and out, concentrating on the scent of Ink and not the overwhelming fear that’s consumed me.
“Good girl,” he praises as he caresses my jaw with his thumb. “You with me?”
Nodding my head, I swallow. “I’m with you.”
“Don’t leave this house unless I’m with you, got it?”
“Got it.”
I just hope this nightmare ends today.
Chapter
Twenty-Nine
INK
“Now that all you assholes have graced me with your presence,” Prez starts off church, earning a round of laughs from all the brothers. “You all know Sutton has run into some trouble. From what Ink has told me, it sounds like that trouble has gotten a fuck of a lot worse.”
Hash’s brows raise. “How much worse can it get? He already beat the shit out of her.”
My jaw clenches and eye twitches at the memory that’s still fresh in my brain.
“Easy. You’re probably next if you keep saying shit like that,” Prez reprimands.
“Please tell me you aren’t buying Wren’s karma bullshit?”
Prez leans back in his chair as he runs his hand through his beard, looking not one bit embarrassed, that is. “I don’t know, man. She hasn’t been wrong about it. They get what’s coming to them.”
“That’s because someone does it. Not fate.”
“Care to fill us in?” Prez asks, looking right at me as he switches the subject back to why we’re all here, ignoring Hash.
Every one of my brother’s eyes turns to me, waiting.
“Sutton’s ex had the balls to walk his bitch ass into Black Raven Ink and leave a note on the front desk for her, reminding her she needs to be back in his house today. I’m done pussyfooting around this. It’s time I pay him a visit.”
The silence in the room speaks volumes. They all know what this means. He not only disrespected me, but the club.
“Does he know who the fuck we are?” Cyrus asks in disbelief. “And people think I’m fucking crazy.”
“You are fucking crazy.” Prez rolls his eyes. “We need to put a stop to this. Guys like him think they’re untouchable and can go wherever the fuck they want. It’s time he gets taught a lesson that sounds like is fucking overdue. No one fucks with the Dirty Devils. Between this shit with Sutton’s ex and the petty shit going on with the Black Diamonds, I’m about out of patience. Shit is about to get real fucking funny soon.”
“Here, here.” Hash pounds his fist on the table at the same time Cyrus howls like a dog.
I can’t help but snort. How does that motherfucker not think he’s crazy?
“Why does every guy who puts on a suit think it gives them a bigger dick?” Scotch asks, sounding pissed.
“No clue, but he’s about to get what’s comin’ to him,” I tell them.
They all grunt in agreement.
