“Well, well, well.”

We jump apart so violently it’s almost embarrassing. I adjust my hat as Kinsey adjusts her shirt.

Levi stands ten feet away, holding a beer with a smug look on his face.

Kinsey plants her feet, arms crossed over her chest. “What can I do for you, Levi?”

Levi waves his finger between us. “I knew it.”

“You saw nothing.” Kinsey narrows her eyes at him.

Levi’s head tilts back as he barks out a laugh. “Oh, I saw everything.”

Kinsey groans. “This is a nightmare.”

Levi leans toward us and whispers, “You two realize this is a public place, right? One of Haddie’s spies could walk down this hall at any moment!”

Kinsey turns frantic as she speaks, focused on Levi as if I’m no longer here.

“Yes, I know. I just had a moment of weakness.” Her hand swings up into the air by my head, and her face contorts. “Look at this, Levi! He pulled out the backward cap trick. I will not be blamed for my actions!”

Levi studies me, a serious look on his face. “I see what you mean.”

My eyes dart between them. “It wasn’t a trick, it was just in the way.”

Then Levi turns to Kinsey, grabbing her by both ‌shoulders, shaking her.

“I know you’re stronger than that hat, Malone.”

All I can do is stare at the two of them until Kinsey laughs. Levi is still shaking her until she swats him away.

“Stop it!” she shouts as she adjusts her ponytail. “I’m good. I’m good.”

“Um, I’m still here, you know.” I step forward.

Kinsey grins at me before placing a kiss on my cheek. “Sorry, but I needed help. You had me a little worked up there, and I forgot where we were.”

“Relax,” Levi tells me while backing toward the bar again. “Your secret’s safe with me.”

“Thank you, Levi,” Kinsey says as Levi turns to walk away.

She drops her forehead against my shoulder the second he disappears around the corner again. I laugh, wrapping one arm loosely around her waist before pressing a quick kiss against the top of her head.

Before she pulls away, I tell her, “Let’s get back out there. But know I’m not done kissing you tonight.”

Chapter thirty-eight

Kinsey

Gordy’s closes at ten on Saturday nights, so when we walk through the door of the duplex, I’m not quite ready to go to bed yet. I’m still riding the high of our win and the nice little buzz from the three beers I drank, celebrating with everyone.

Riley drops his keys in the bowl next to mine. He kept himself to one drink at the bar, telling me to celebrate as much as I wanted to and he would drive us home.

I kick off my shoes and join him in the kitchen. He leans down to pull two bottles of water from the fridge, sliding one toward me. He opens his bottle and takes a drink. I can’t help but stare at his throat as his head tilts back.

He swallows and says, “Are you going to bed?”

I watch his hand as it grips the bottle, lowering it to the counter, and it makes me wonder if that’s what his hand would look like wrapped around his dick. My thoughts shoot back to when I landed on top of him that first day at the field house and when I fully cupped him in a full bar, and yeah, it might look like that. Surely, if he doesn’t have the length, he has the girth.
