Mimi

Stop pretending you don’t know what I’m talking about. If you want me to talk him up to our parents, you need someone on your side.

What does knowing how my night with him went have anything to do with how well our family would receive him? If they should ever meet him—which I’m not sure I want to be thinking about after just one night!

Mimi

Is he still there?

OMG

Mimi

So it was good then?

Yes! And I’m ending this conversation.

Mimi

Okay, but does he have a good

For being married with a kid, her sister was far too interested in the eggplant River was getting. Also, she couldn’t answer her sister because she never got a good look. Anyway, she’d been quite satisfied, so she supposed it didn’t matter. Although, River couldn’t help being curious. She nibbled on the corner of her nail as she slid a look at his sleeping form and thought about what might be below the blanket. The sun slipping through her blinds made darkness no longer an issue, and it wouldn’t hurt if she did a quick glance.

After setting her phone on the nightstand again, River slowly lifted the blankets, peering into the space between them and—

“Are you looking at my dick?” Logan asked with his eyes closed.

She released a squeak, dropping the blanket. “No. You’re just dreaming. This is all just a dream. Shhhhh.” River pressed a finger to his lips.

He smiled beneath her finger, cracking an eye open, before his lips turned into a frown. “This must be a dream because I specifically remember falling asleep next to you being naked. And now you’re wearing clothes.”

River was still wearing his shirt from the night before. “I put it on when I got up to use the restroom.”

He lifted his head, squinting toward her nightstand. “What time is it?”

“Seven-ish.”

“Hmm,” he said, brushing a hair from her cheek.

“Are you hungry? I have . . .” River stopped because she didn’t have much. “I have oatmeal,” she finished. River had meant to put together overnight oats for her breakfast after she got home from Logan’s event, but obviously that didn’t happen. She supposed she could just make hot oats the old-fashioned way.

“That sounds terrible.” He scooted nearer, pressing soft kisses to her neck.

She was happy the Logan she invited into her bed last night remained. It wasn’t the alcohol alone that had softened him. He continued to want her, and her heart gave into it a little more.

“Were you texting with someone?” he asked. Was the guy a warlock? How could he tell with his eyes closed?

“It was just Mimi, my sister.”

He pulled back. “And she was wondering about my dick?”

“No,” she said in her sister’s defense, even if Mimi didn’t deserve it. It was her sister’s fault River was now thinking they may meet in the future, and it was better not to start off on an awkward foot.

“I don’t know if anyone told you before, but you’re a terrible liar.”

“I . . . just realized I hadn’t gotten a good look last night.” She grimaced at how cringey it sounded.

“So you’re looking for another opportunity then?”
