“And now?” she prodded.

“Now, I’m going to kiss you and ignore the fact that you dragged me across town, leaving a meeting that was scheduled for weeks.”

“Daigo, I’m sorry--”

“Don’t be.” Cupping her face, his touch gentle, he brushed his lips on hers. “We’re going to have to celebrate. We should go out tonight. You pick the place.”

“I already know where I want to go.” Her eyes lit up. “We’ll go dancing.”

A frown touched his brow. “If you’re talking about--”

“The Den.” She laughed at the look on his face.

“A bloody club.” The distasteful expression had her laughing even harder.

“You’re such a snob. It might not be your exclusive Elite Club--”

“Far from it.”

“But,” she continued, ignoring him, “it’s fun and the food is quite good. We’re going to dance, because in a few months I’ll be too big to see my feet, and you’re going to be turned off by the not-so-nice symptoms of pregnancy.”

“I will not!”

She raised tapered brows at him. “I will remind you of that when I’m puking and craving disgusting things and smelling up the place.”

“Smelling?”

“Yes, darling.” She kissed him again, just for the pleasure of it. “So, we’ll go dancing and then go home and make love for most of the night.”

His face lit up. “I like that part.” Plucking her off his lap, he rose. “Duty calls. If I’m going to be late, I’ll let you know.”

She put a hand on his arm to stop him from leaving. “Are you happy? You never said.”

“I thought it was implied.” Lifting her up, he kissed her roughly on the lips. “I’m happy.”

After he left, she sat down and pressed a hand to her flat stomach. She was pregnant. Oh God, she was going to have a baby or two.

“How in God’s name do I let you talk me into something like this?” Daigo muttered as he took in the crowd, the smoky atmosphere, the incredible noise level, and the people pressed together as if they were joined at the hips.

“Because you love me.” Going on her toes, she kissed him, making a smacking noise with her lips. “Hmm. Tasty. And I did promise you mad jungle sex when we get home.”

His eyes gleamed in anticipation.

“You two should get a room,” Tammy told them dryly, pulling down her figure-hugging sweater over her torso. “Let’s go find the bar--” She looked at her friend. “Not you, preggo.”

“Oh, I don’t mind one bit.” With a laugh, Shelby tugged on her husband’s arm. “Dance with me.”

“This is crazy.” He had to lift his voice to be heard.

“Isn’t it?” Wrapping herself around him, she started swaying to the sound of the music. “This place is always packed.”

“I had no idea you were a club girl.”

She arched a brow at him. “Tammy and I used to sneak into clubs just to get the free food and booze. We had such a meager salary that it wasn’t enough to spend on luxuries, at least that was what it was at the time.”

He stared down at her and felt love overflowing his heart. He never thought it was possible to love her more than he already did. But anything was possible with her.
