“Where are you going?” Mari called.
“To fucking kill Remy McCall. I know he’s behind this!”
“Um, are you putting pants on?”
“No. I might have to turn bear and maul him.”
Pause. “Okay then. Good luck!”
He stomped down the hill towards the main house.
Chapter 20
Mari dressed as fast as she could in the first clothes she could find, grabbing her hairbrush and sticking it in her coat pocket.
She didn’t really think Titan was going to kill anyone, or maul them. She already knew that Remy and Colt were famous for pranking the crew, and nobody had killed them so far.
But since there was no way she was missing this, it meant she was probably going to meet the crew without any prep, a shower, or a chance to put on something decent. She could at least tame the bedhead.
Even with brushing her hair as she walked, she caught up with Titan pretty easily, since he was still stumping along with the floorboard attached to his foot. She was starting to get the feeling he’d left it there on purpose, to heighten the effect when he stormed into the house.
She drifted along behind him, not wanting to wreck his dramatic entrance. She was seeing a whole new side of him right now, and she had to admit she was enjoying it.
Sure enough, he stomped up the porch stairs with as much noise as possible, banged open the side door, and erupted into the great room all naked with his dick swinging, snarling impressively.
Half the crew seemed to be in there, and she could see through the lighted window the way their faces all turned toward him at once. Their expressions were priceless.
“Where’s that fucker Remy?” he demanded.
A voluptuous blond, who Mari knew from the pictures was Kitty, said, “Upstairs unpacking.” She added innocently, “Is something wrong?”
Titan growled, “Nothing’s fucking wrong. Why do you ask?” and clomped away toward the main staircase.
Mari came in behind him. She waved to the assembled crowd, but didn’t stop. “Hi, all. I’m just going to—” She gestured in the direction of Titan’s wake, and followed him to the stairs.
Titan was climbing the staircase, growling and muttering the whole way. When they passed the second-floor landing a door down the hall opened, and a woman with tawny hair peeked out, eyes wide. Lion shifter.
“Already?” she said. “Seriously? We’ve only been home like, fifteen minutes.”
Mari shrugged. “I guess Remy missed him.”
Lila snorted.
When they reached the third floor, Titan turned in the opposite direction from Colt and Callie’s suite and stomped to a different door. He burst in without knocking, yelling, “Where is that feathered motherfucker?”
Inside, Mari heard a woman’s voice say, “Here we go,” sounding halfway between amused and resigned. Mari followed Titan inside to see a great room with a similar layout to Colt and Callie’s, but much tidier. There was a curvy woman with dark curly hair in the kitchenette, who Mari knew was Remy’s mate Jaeda.
“Remy’s in the bedroom,” she said, her eyes dancing. “Come on.”
She and Mari got to the bedroom just in time to see Titan dragging a shirtless, jeans-clad blond man out of the walk-in closet. He had to be at least six-three, but like everyone else, he looked small next to Titan.
“What the hell are you doing, you barbarian?” Remy yelled, but even Mari—who’d never met him—could tell he was totally faking it. He wasn’t even trying.
“I am killing you,” Titan growled. “Look—at—this!” He held out his floorboard-adorned foot, shaking it.
“Ooh, that looks serious,” Remy said with faux concern. “Why, that looks like unicorn dookey. Who would ever leave such a thing lying around?” He made little tsk-tsk noises. “Although I do feel compelled to say, you might have been more careful. You—”
Titan wrenched the floorboard off his foot and flung it at Remy. “Auuuugh!” He dove at Remy and lifted him bodily off the floor. “You. Are. Dead.”
