“Thank you for saving my life. If you disrespect my mate I’ll still bleed you.”

Squatch rumbled, “We are grateful for your help. You need to get dressed. Now.”

The boy sighed, but he conjured some pants.

Whoa. Squatch was the teenage dragon whisperer.

Jaeda said, “Thank you for helping us. I’m sorry again for hurting you.”

He shrugged. “It’s okay. Did you smite your enemy?”

She grinned. “Hell, yeah.”

“Good.”

“So you’re not just a spirit dragon,” Squatch said.

The boy rolled his eyes. “Of course not. I can go anywhere, in all the worlds.”

“You can go anywhere, and you picked here?” Remy said.

The boy shrugged. “You have Twinkies.”

Callie said gently, “Don’t you have a home? Or parents?”

Another shrug.

Once again, as she looked at him, Jaeda was struck by a feeling of intense loneliness. “Do you need a place to stay?” she asked impulsively. “We have an extra bedroom in our suite.”

Brandon gave her an ‘are you fucking kidding me’ look. Okay, well, maybe it was stupid. But they owed him.

“Nah, I’m good.” The boy finished his Twinkie and pumped his legs, making the swing go higher. At the peak of the biggest swing, he jumped off. A rip opened in mid-air, and he disappeared through it. “See you later!”

And he was gone.

They all stood there for a moment, and then Kitty said, “That was so weird.”

“So that’s your dragon boy,” Brock murmured.

“Who do you think he is?” Callie asked.

Brock said, “I’m not sure, but I think we better contact Thorne Greystone and see if he’s heard of any missing Draken children.”

“Or maybe Emon Al-Maddeiri,” Brandon said. “I haven’t been to his territory in years, but that kid has the Al-Maddeiri look.”

“And the attitude,” Remy said.

“Those eyes,” Jaeda murmured. “That’s why they looked familiar. Al-Maddeiri eyes.”

“We can talk to dragons in the morning,” Brandon said. “For all we know, the kid went home. Right now, we need food, and then sleep. Alpha’s orders.”

Chapter 36

After they ate, Jaeda and Remy dragged themselves upstairs to their suite. Jaeda went straight to the bedroom and threw herself on the bed.

“I am so fucking tired,” she groaned.

Remy crawled over the end of the bed on all fours and lay down next to her. “You are amazing,” he said. “You blew me away tonight, with your amazingness. Especially when you Changed all by yourself.”
