He sighed and sat down in front of her, doing the same thing she’d done. Gazing into her eyes. Telling her to be human. Two legs. No fur. No paws or whiskers. Like him, only without a dick.

It didn’t help. Jaeda stayed leopard.

Remy leaned back against the bed. “It’s my fault,” he said. “Her dad is going to kill me. And then her mom. And then Kane Colton. Michelangela is going to kill me twice. And then Brandon is going to kill me. They’re all just going to get in line and stab me until I’m dead.”

He looked at Jaeda. “And Jaeda is a leopard. A stuck leopard.” She batted him with her paw.

He banged his head against the bed. “We are so, so fucked.”

Chapter 25

Half an hour later, the whole crew was sitting in the safe house living room. Jaeda lay in the middle of the floor, twitching the end of her tail and trying to capture it with her paws.

Nobody had been able to convince her to Change back to human. She seemed to be having an awesome time being a leopard.

Brandon ran his hand through his dark wavy hair. “Fuck. I leave you alone for an hour…” He fastened his most alpha gaze on Remy. “Explain to me again how you managed to Turn her?”

“I didn’t Turn her!” Remy said, for the eighth or tenth time. “We were just, you know—”

“Boinking,” Kitty said helpfully.

Remy glared at her. “Yes. That. We talked about it, how we might be mates and it could bond us, and maybe even heal her. She wanted to. And we did bond, I think.”

“Ya think?” Colt murmured, grinning. Brandon sent him a frosty look, and he tried to wipe the grin off his face. Fail.

Remy ignored all that. “There was this blue light, and her wounds healed more. And then we were at the best part…”

Callie whispered to Kitty, “Wild orgasms.”

“And your leopard went out of control?” Brandon said.

“Only a little. Like, this much.” Remy held his thumb and forefinger about an inch apart. “I didn’t bite her or anything. Not even a little love nip.”

“Then how the fuck did she end up a leopard?”

“I don’t KNOW! There was just that blue sparkly light, and then… this.”

He gestured at Jaeda. She made a questioning kitty noise and got up and came over to him, thrusting her nose under the palm of his hand so he would pet her.

He began scratching her ears, and she purred.

Brandon facepalmed.

Squatch was watching him with that suspicious look again. “Are you sure that’s all that happened? You didn’t get any visions of the spirit world? Or the halaika?”

Remy stopped in mid-scratch. Oh, fuck. He vaguely remembered seeing the cottage and a formless mist, right before everything hit the fan.

“Um, maybe? By accident?”

Colt was frantically shaking his head, pointing at Brandon behind his hand.

Oh, fuck. Brandon didn’t know.

The alpha’s voice was low and quiet and scary as hell. “If you hadn’t been through so much the last couple of days, I would slap you the fuck into next week. I’d give you a beatdown your damn leopard would never forget.”

Whoa. Brandon didn’t go full-on alpha that often, but when he did it was impressive.

Brandon went on, “Tell me everything. Now. Leave nothing out.”
