“Absolutely,” he agreed. “Sloth-like.”

She gave a snort at that, and added, “After this mission is over, I’ll make up a list of date destinations to choose from.”

He bit his lips, trying to keep the goofy grin off his face. “I can’t wait.”

A few days later, Jaeda was sitting at her desk watching the clock on the wall creep toward five o’clock, when Remy walked in.

The real Colt had been in a couple of times in the last two weeks, to meet with Sutcliffe. To her surprise, although he really did look just like Remy, she’d known right away it wasn’t him.

They’d pretended to be attracted to each other because of the mission, but there was no fizzy feeling inside her, and though objectively Colt was just as hot as his brother, her veejay had no interest.

It was weird. She’d never noticed before that men stopped putting off the sexy vibe after they were mated.

But now, she got the fizzy feeling as soon as Remy walked in. He smiled his heartbreaker smile when he caught sight of her, and walked right over and perched on the corner of her desk. “Hey, babe.”

“Hey, yourself.” She smiled back at him. Just seeing him lifted her spirits.

“I brought you something.”

From behind his back he brought a single peach-colored rose in a crystal vase.

“Aww,” she said. “It’s gorgeous. You’re sweet.”

He turned the hand holding the vase, and she saw a thumb drive tucked into his palm, where it wouldn’t be picked up on the security cameras.

The keylogger.

Remy said, “I just had a feeling you needed it. Is Sutcliffe here?”

“He’s on another floor, in a meeting.”

“Poor you, all alone.”

“I’ll find something to occupy myself.” Like bugging Sutcliffe’s laptop with the keylogger.

“I’m sure you will.”

She was just reaching for the vase when Sutcliffe walked in from his meeting. He immediately frowned when he saw how close she and Remy were sitting, and strode over to them.

“McCall,” he said. “You should be at the job site. Did you need something?”

“Just to see if my best girl is free for dinner.” He winked at Jaeda.

The frown grew deeper. “During the workday, she’s my girl,” Sutcliffe said. “And tonight she needs to work overtime.”

I call bullshit, Jaeda thought. This was the first she’d heard of it. But she didn’t want to protest—she might get the chance to plant the keylogger tonight, if Remy could pass the thumb drive off to her without Sutcliffe seeing it.

Because the dickhead was clearly going to stay right where he was, looming, until Remy left. Territorial bastard. He was worse than a shifter.

“Sucks for me,” Remy said lightly. He leaned over and kissed Jaeda, putting the vase down where their bodies blocked his hand from Sutcliffe. A second later, Jaeda felt him slide the thumb drive into her inside blazer pocket.

She could feel Sutcliffe fuming from three feet away.

Finally Remy broke the kiss, tapped her nose and said, “Later, babe. Call me.” He turned to Sutcliffe, looking him up and down. The air between them almost crackled with dominance.

Finally he just said, “Sutcliffe,” with a brief nod, and sauntered out.

Sutcliffe gave Jaeda a look that would have raised her hackles if she really was a wolf, and stalked off into his office.
