Callie felt that fluttering in her belly he always made her feel. This was dangerous. She knew it was dangerous, and she couldn’t stop herself. But he’d dared her, and now Bad Callie wanted to call him on it.
She leaned closer, running her fingers oh-so-lightly up his bare forearm. “What if I love you and then you won’t leave?”
Colt smiled, but she could see the goosebumps where she’d touched him. That tiny thing made her suddenly feel powerful. Sexy. He said, “Then you’ll have a chance to really hone that devastation technique.”
She didn’t want to devastate him. She wanted to touch that honest place inside him, that place in his heart that wanted to become the kind of man who was worthy of a true mate, and who yearned to make them happy.
Colt bent his head towards hers, and she could feel his breath on her cheek. He added, “Anyway, I’m just a guy looking for notches on his bedpost, remember? One night of love, and it’ll be a race to see who leaves fastest. Hell, I probably won’t even remember your name in the morning.”
His lips brushed Callie’s cheek. She remembered what those lips could do. And the way he’d looked at the woman he was dancing with tonight, like she was the only woman on earth.
It would be so, so nice to feel that. Just for a little while.
Bad Callie turned her head and whispered in his ear, “What if I made you scream my name so many times you couldn’t forget it?”
She heard his breath catch. She could almost hear his heart beating faster. Wanting her.
His hand skimmed up her arm, to the sleeve of her armadillo t-shirt. “I could live with that.”
Chapter 14
Colt turned his head and tasted Callie’s lips, warm and soft and tasting faintly of whiskey. A knot of cold tension in his chest he hadn’t even realized was there suddenly relaxed.
His leopard purred.
I know, Colt said to him. Callie lips.
He kissed her slowly, again and again because this was the first time he’d gotten to kiss her as much as he wanted. It was like an instant addiction, her taste and her scent and the way she made him feel.
His owl started to say something snarky, and Colt ruthlessly suppressed him. No psycho owl was going to ruin this for him.
It was going to be amazing.
The straight wooden dining-room chairs all of the sudden felt ridiculously uncomfortable, so Colt put his hand around the back of Callie’s neck and gently drew her to her feet, kissing her the whole time.
He couldn’t stop.
She melted against him, one hand running up his back, the other on his upper arm. Her lips parted and her tongue met his, and he didn’t want to move because she felt so perfect.
He pulled her against him. His boner was back, hard and hot, and he was so fucking glad not to have to hide it anymore.
She moved her hips against him, and he instantly felt twice as hard, if that were even possible.
He wanted to take her right here against the wall, but then he didn’t want to because it wasn’t enough for him and what if that was all she wanted?
He needed to stroke her skin and watch her shiver. Kiss her senseless and then kiss her some more. Make her come again and again, until she was begging for him to slide into her and drive them both over the edge into oblivion.
He wrapped his arms around her and lifted her up. Callie wrapped her legs around him, the heat of her core driving him wild.
He carried her into her bedroom and sat her on the edge of the bed. Stroking her hair back with one hand, he ran his fingers over the soft skin of her neck, underneath the collar of her shirt. “Do I get to undress you now?”
“Hurry up,” she said. Her eyes were drunk with more than whiskey, and her hands were moving all the time, running up his thighs and over his abs, making his stomach clench with need.
“Nope,” he said. “I’m going to do it sloooow.”
“Don’t make me pull out my claws.”
He laughed. “I love it when you threaten me.” He did. Tough, badass Callie was sexy as fuck.
