Noah had always known the Nashville pack was a snake pit of intrigue and competing factions, but he’d never realized how many of them had secret weapons stashes. It was like occupying a Middle Eastern country.
The four of them had liberated the non-Tyrone lovers from cages in the barn, where they’d been stashed after his minions dosed a mandatory pack meeting with knockout gas. All their enemies down in one fell swoop.
Probably Creston’s idea.
Within the allotted hour, they’d taken the compound back and their makeshift army, under Donnie’s command, was on its way to the woods on a Tyrone hunt. They’d taken all the trank guns as well as conventional weapons—this was going to be bloody enough without half the pack taking out the other half.
Noah had almost sneaked away and gone with them, but Jace had been ready for him and dragged him back, smacking him upside the head hard enough to make his ears ring.
“I have a plan, Reilly,” he said. “Trust me.”
So now Noah was standing by the helipad with Jace, Emma and Sophia, waiting for…something…while his gut was churning and his wolf was close to panicking. Finally, through an empty sky, he heard the beat of huge wings and felt a sudden downdraft. He closed his eyes against the flying grit, and when he opened them, there was a huge fucking cobalt-blue dragon settling onto the helipad, with Israel Jonas on her back.
Noah stared, and then turned to Jace.
“This is your plan?” he said. “Dragonfire? It’ll take out the whole forest and everybody in it!”
Israel slid off the dragon’s back and strode over. “Don’t be an idiot,” he said, dumping a bulky cloth pack at Noah’s feet, and tossing another one down in front of Emma.
“Ashley’s not your weapon. She’s your ride.”
