As if.
He’d love to just rip their throats out—it would solve a lot of problems. But aside from the morally wrong part of it, he’d never leave bodies here for Mina—or her son—to find.
A little scare would be fun, though. He leaped silently to the floor and stood in the center of the room, waiting.
The beam of a flashlight came wavering down the hallway, then landed on him. Noah knew his eyes were glittering gold in the darkness.
The beam froze, and Robbie whispered, “Holy fuck.”
His friend shoved at him. “What?”
“It got out. Run!”
With a wicked snarl, Noah lunged at them. He caught Robbie’s arm in his teeth and shook it hard, being careful not to break the skin. Much.
Robbie and his asshole friend were both yelling and scrambling, but Noah’s weight was throwing them off balance and they couldn’t get their feet under them to run.
“Shoot it! Shoot it!” Robbie yelled.
Dammit to hell. Noah could take a bullet, but he’d just lost a crap-ton of blood last night and didn’t need to lose any more. And if they tranked him…
He dropped Robbie’s arm. In one bound he was on top of the desk, and with a mighty leap he smashed through the window above it and landed on the grass below, a shock of pain going up his injured leg. He heard shouts behind him, and the hiss and “thunk” of a trank gun, but he was already running, disappearing into the night.
