A slow grin spreads across his face. “Well, for starters…I’m going to—”
“Mommy!”
Daisy comes skidding to a stop in front of us, interrupting whatever thinly veiled threat Nate was about to make.
“Can I have another cupcake?”
“Sure,” I say.
She turns to run off again.
“Hey, Daisy Girl.”
She spins back around.
Nate looks at me, and I nod.
It’s time. I don’t know what the future holds, but I do know that it will always involve Nate. I refuse to lose him again, and he’s more than proven he will always be there for us.
Daisy plants her hands on her hips. “What?”
“You know how your mom and I have been spending a lot of time together?”
She nods slowly. “And holding hands?”
I bite the inside of my cheek. I knew she noticed.
“Yes,” Nate says, a slight shade of pink creeping up his neck. I didn't even know the man could blush.
He reaches back and takes my hand, threading his fingers through mine. “Your mom and I are together.”
Daisy blinks. Then she squints at us, her forehead wrinkling as she pieces it all together. “Like boyfriend and girlfriend?”
I laugh. “Yeah.”
She studies us for another few seconds. Then her entire face lights up. “So…” she says slowly. “Does that mean we’re like a family now?”
Emotion clogs my throat before I can answer, but Nate doesn’t hesitate. “Yeah, Daisy Girl. It means we’re a family.”
EPILOGUE
2 YEARS LATER
Harper
Sweat dampens my brow, heat spreading across my cheeks. My body is wound so tightly it feels like even the slightest touch could make me explode.
“Regretting your words yet?” Nate drawls, lifting his head from between my legs. I shake my head, not willing to give him the satisfaction. “Suit yourself.” A slow grin splits his lips. “I could do this all fucking day.”
He dives back down, kissing and teasing every inch of me except where I need him most. The dull throb turned into an agonizing ache twenty minutes ago, but I’m still not willing to apologize, even though I only said what I did to get a rise out of him. This isn’t exactly what I had in mind, though.
“You thought…” he says between kisses. “That I wasn't going to punish you because you’re carrying my child?”
“No,” I pant. “I was hoping you would stop treating me like I’m made of glass. I’m pregnant, not infirm.”
He growls. “You’re not helping your case, Dani. Give me one good reason why I should eat your pussy right now.”
My whole body shudders at his words. I’ve been so horny this time around that I practically jump Nate every night as soon as Daisy goes to bed. The problem? He’s so scared he’s going to hurt the baby that he makes love to me like it's my first time—all soft caresses and gentle thrusts. It was sweet at first, but now I just want him to bend me over and fuck the living daylights out of me.
