Tapping my leg twice to calm the anxiety, I force my attention back where it belongs. On my woman.

Mine.

Although she’s not really, is she?

I don’t know what we are, but what I do know is that I don’t want to wait until tomorrow to be inside her again.

I make it to the kitchen in a few long strides and take the glass from Harper’s hand right as she’s about to scoop herself another serving from the punch bowl.

Ignoring Emory’s side-eye, I lean down. “What did I say, Dani?”

She narrows her eyes, amusement dancing across her face. “Don’t get drunk,” she recites in a mock-stern voice.

“And what are you doing right now?”

Her eyes narrow in the most bratty way I can imagine. “I’m having fun.”

“I can think of something that’s a lot more fun.”

She swallows, glancing over at Emory, who is suddenly very interested in the cheese board.

“You know what I think?” Harper snatches the glass back from me, dips it into the punch bowl, and takes a long drink. “I think you’re bluffing.”

When she brings it to her lips again, I catch her wrist. “Want to find out? Take another sip, and your pussy is going to be really fucking empty tonight.”

Her hazel eyes swirl with defiance as she looks straight at me, slips her hand from my grip, and takes another sip.

I shake my head once before reaching down and hauling her over my shoulder.

“Nate,” she squeals.

The sharp smack I land on her ass turns it into a gasp.

I say a silent prayer that Emory is distracted by Luke now, so she doesn’t notice me carrying her wedding photographer out of the kitchen like a damn caveman.

“Put me down!” Harper yells as I walk up the stairs.

The hallway is empty, so I open the first door I see, which happens to be a walk-in linen closet the size of a small bedroom.

Perfect.

I set her on her feet and close the door behind me. There’s no lock, so I can only hope nobody mistakes it for a bathroom.

“You’ve been a bad girl, Harper.” I click my tongue. “What am I going to do with you?”

She rips the red wig off her head and tosses it on the floor. Long blonde waves fall around her shoulders as she steps back until her back hits a bare wall. Slowly, she slides down the wall, spreading her legs when she reaches the floor.

Her eyes track me as I cross the room. “Whatever you want.”

“That’s a given.” I crouch down so we’re at eye level, pressing my index finger under her chin. “But first I need to know where your head’s at.”

“I’m not drunk,” she says a little too quickly.

“Okay.” My gaze flicks toward the door. “Then prove it.”

Her brow furrows.

“Walk a straight line for me, Dani.”
