“I love you,” she said, then she grabbed my face and kissed me.

I loved her too. She was finally safe, and no one was ever going to hurt her again.

If they tried, I’d kill them.

EPILOGUE

Iris

Three months later

I ran from the five pups in hot pursuit. At this age, they had trouble staying in one form. And I had three tiny wolves and two naked toddlers swarming me, giggling and yapping.

I pretended to fall over so they could catch me, and they squealed and barked in delight.

“Cake!” Sally called out from the keep and they jumped up and ran away as fast as they came.

I chuckled and stood, dusting off my hands and went back to admiring my flourishing herb garden. My vervain right in the center and covered in gorgeous purple flowers. My phone beeped and I pulled it out of my pocket.

Willow: You told him yet?

I quickly typed out a reply: Last night.

Willow: How did he take it?

Being told you were immortal, and any children you had would be as well, was a lot. It was what Willow had tried to tell me on mine and Draven’s mating day, and why she’d been so obsessed with finding me someone. She’d finally shared the news with me a few days ago. I still couldn’t quite grasp the magnitude of it. Thanks to Warrick, and some favor Lucifer had owed him, Willow and I, and our mates would live forever. The same went for Mags if she found a mate, that was Lucifer’s condition. Rose, she was a different story. Apparently, her future had already been set in stone, and Lucifer was reluctant to upset the fates. In other words, there was no guarantee where Roe was concerned.

That was the only part I hated about this whole immortal thing. If Lucifer was right, I’d have to live an eternity without her. I shoved that thought from my mind; it was too painful to even contemplate.

I typed my reply to Wills: Pretty good? We’re both still processing.

“Have you finished for the day, petal?”

I turned and smiled as Draven pulled me into his arms. “I hadn’t realized it’d gotten so late.”

“It looks good,” he said, taking in my handiwork.

“For only a few months, it’s freaking awesome.”

Draven’s lips curled up on one side. “I need you to come with me, and you can’t ask any questions.”

I tried, but I couldn’t read his expression. “What are you up to?”

“No questions, remember?” He took my hand and led me around the side of the keep then kept going, heading into the woods.

“Do I get any hints?”

He looked down at me and grinned. “Nope.”

A larger area around the keep was now demon free. Which meant, Draven’s warriors needed to patrol a far wider area. They’d been training up more members of his pack. He also had a group of adolescents, all in their mid to late teens, who Ash was training for the future.

Birds fluttered around us, squirrels scampered along tree branches to keep up and several rabbits were hopping along behind me. My powers had only increased, and Draven loved to tease me about it. I couldn’t go anywhere anymore without several little friends following me. “It’s so beautiful out here…you know, without the threat of a demon ambush. You want to go for a run later?” Draven loved it when we ran together.

He kissed my hand. “We’ll be a bit too busy for a run, but I guarantee you’ll still get a workout.”

I barked out a laugh. “I can’t believe you said that? I swear you’ve been corrupted by all those movies you and Ash watch.” Seeing as they’d been locked away for over three hundred years, then were a little busy claiming territory, movies were still pretty new to them. Ash liked action and some comedy as well, and the corny lines my mate was coming out with were a constant delight.

He chuckled. “You love it.”
