He groaned.

He needed release.

His skin itched with an uncontrollable need, a volcano simmering deep inside, ready to explode at any moment.

Stomach clenching, skin too tight for his body, he turned to the room, to the people filling it, a growl of hunger tearing at his throat.

“You okay, boss?” a male said from behind him, brows raised in question.

Brent looked at the male’s face through the red haze covering his eyes but couldn’t remember his name or what either of them were doing there.

Ignoring the guy, he turned away and spotted another male across the room watching him. He was appealing enough. It didn’t matter what he looked like, he just needed release. Anyone willing would do.

He crooked a finger at the male, and he stood instantly, eyes downcast, and made his way toward him. He led the younger male to one of the rooms off to the side. He might not remember what the fuck he was doing there, but he knew that was where he wanted to go, where he’d get what he needed.

Opening the door, he motioned for the male to follow, and as the guy slid past, he drank down his emotions, taking another hit.

The haze in his mind thickened and he stumbled, shoulder hitting the doorframe.

More.

He needed more.

Chaya fired off another text to Brent. He said he’d be there in thirty minutes. She’d been waiting an hour.

An uneasy feeling moved through her, but she squashed it. He’d been held up at work, that’s all. Then why hadn’t he texted? Things were so good between them right now. But what if he was feeling guilty again, beating himself up over something he’d had no control over? What if he was having second thoughts?

Pulling on her jacket, she shoved her keys in her pocket.

No way. I’m not letting you push me away again.

The streets were busy, but her apartment was just around the corner from the club, so this area was always bustling, alive.

Not sure if the alley entrance would be open, she went through the front. She smiled at Brian and the bouncer let her straight in. She pushed through the crowd and went straight to the door off to the side. The closer she got, the more intense her sense of dread became. If anything’s happened to him…

Everything looked as it always did, business as usual. She glanced around the room but didn’t see Brent. Keeping her head down, she made her way to his office and knocked. There was no gruff bark to enter, but she opened it anyway and walked in.

Empty.

Shutting the door again, she turned toward the back, about to head to his apartment, when Eric came up beside her. The guy’s eyes were wide, and he looked uneasy as hell. “Hey…I, ah, I thought you were off tonight?”

“I am. I’m just looking for Brent. You seen him?”

He rubbed the back of his neck and swallowed hard. “Ah…” His gaze darted toward the playrooms. “He’s, ah…kinda busy at the moment.”

Her stomach bottomed out and she took an unconscious step back. “He’s…he’s with someone?”

Eric’s face softened. “Yeah, babe.”

She tried to shove past the guy, but he grabbed her arm, stopping her in her tracks.

“Let me go.”

He searched her face, and she knew he saw it, the pain, the betrayal. It was impossible to hide. He cursed under his breath. “Look, I’d have to be blind not to know something’s going on between you two. But you need to wait until he comes out of that room. You barging in there now won’t help anything, yeah?”

“Let. Me. Go, Eric. Now.”
