“Great. Is she going to show it to you?”

“Tonight. That’s why I called. Wondered if you’d come with me.”

And now she felt a rush of a different kind. Finn was making her a part of his life in many ways. The fact that he wanted her with him as he made an important business decision…

“Harper? You there?”

“I’m here. And yes, I’d love to come with you tonight.”

“That can be arranged too,” he said gruffly.

Realizing her mistake, she started to correct it and then decided not to. Because yes, she wanted to come in that way too!

“Should I meet you there?” she asked.

“I’ll pick you up at six thirty.”

“Sounds good.”

“Oh, and Harper?”

“Yeah?”

“I’d love to make you come tonight too.” With that, he hung up, leaving her standing there gaping at the phone.

“Why do you look so nervous?” Finn asked once he’d parked in front of the empty storefront.

“I’m not nervous. I’m just excited for you,” Harper replied.

And then Nikki Branson pulled up beside them in her black Escalade and hopped out, looking casually chic as always.

They converged in front of the store, where Harper introduced “my friend Finn” to Nikki, who smiled warmly and shook his hand.

“Pleasure to meet you,” Nikki said, shooting Harper an approving look.

Is it that obvious? Harper wondered as Nikki unlocked the door to the empty space and waved them inside.

“This place is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside,” Finn said as he meandered around, investigating the space.

“I brought you a copy of the listing that has the exact dimensions on it,” Nikki said, pulling the sheet out of her Michael Kors tote bag.

Harper hung back and allowed Finn and Nikki to conduct business while she looked at the space through her photographer’s eye. It was easy to envision where the front desk would go and where she would place the landscaping photos Finn had asked her to take. She could also imagine McKayla sitting there, manning the front desk, even though she knew she was getting ahead of herself. Funny how her and Finn’s lives were blending together so easily. Almost too easily.

“Well. What do you think?” Finn asked, coming to stand next to Harper near the front window.

“Oh. Well, it’s not up to me.”

“But I’m interested in your opinion,” he said, seemingly unfazed that Nikki was overhearing their conversation.

“Truthfully? I love it!”

He gave her a satisfied smile and then turned back toward Nikki. “I’m interested,” he said. “So, what happens next?”

Nikki handed him a folder. “I would suggest reviewing these documents. I’ve included an estimated cost sheet and some tax information, along with some more specific details about the property.”

“I appreciate that,” Finn said, taking the folder from her.

“My business card is also inside, so feel free to call me with any questions,” she added.
