Her breath hitches. A tear slips from her lashes and trails across her temple.

“Regina will never touch her again,” I vow. “I’ve already started the process. Whether you marry me or not, we will always be Lola’s legal guardians,” I promise.

Millie closes her eyes and tightens her grip on Lola and me. I kiss the tip of her nose, pull back, and wait for her to open her eyes before continuing.

“But I hope you will.”

The corners of her lips turn down in confusion.

“Hope I will what?” she asks.

“Marry me.”

She blinks, looks down at the top of Lola’s head buried in her bosom, and meets my eyes.

“Okay,” she says.

“Okay what?” I ask.

“I’ll marry you,” she declares.

My knees wobble from the intensity of my relief. I growl and capture her lips.

Millie Grant is mine. Mine and Lola’s. My future wife. My daughter’s guardian angel. My lover. Mine.

All mine.

Forever.

Epilogue

Millie Grant

Quinn meets me in the hallway and offers me a rare smile.

When Artur first introduced me to Quinn, I understood why he chose her to help him build his company. She’s smart, driven, and perceptive in ways most people could never even dream of being. Add in the scars on her right hand and it’s obvious they both share a common history.

They had something to prove as they poured themselves into their company. They’ve succeeded—and will continue to surpass expectations for many years to come.

Because of them, the entire high voltage field has become a drastically safer place to work.

“Artur is a lucky man. You’re gorgeous and that dress is stunning,” she says.

Coming from her, a woman who likes women, the compliment means a lot. It could be weird, but the respect and happiness shining from her eyes—and lack of sexual interest—makes our friendship genuine.

“Thank you. How hard was it to keep him in his dressing room?” I ask.

“Oh, God, don’t get me started. That man is obsessed with you,” she groans.

I scoff and reach for the door handle.

“It’s only fair since I’m obsessed with him, too,” I quip.

She smiles and says, “I can buy you a few minutes, but be quick.”

I nod and slip through the door with relative ease considering my long, full white dress.

He stops mid pace as I close the door behind me. A wicked grin spreads across his face as I lock it.
