Her heart was beating so fast that Michelle felt slightly lightheaded. She prayed she would be able to drive to the Big Doggo without mishap.
She knew what they were going to do when they got to his ranch. If it had to end with Lucas making love to her, then it would be a fitting close to their secret rendezvous.
Chapter Fourteen
Michelle followed Lucas’s pickup, aware that he wasn’t going to take the circuitous route she usually took when driving to his house. Right now she didn’t care who recognized her vehicle. As she increased her speed to keep up with him, vehicles rushed past heading the other way, but she kept her gaze fixed forward, eagerly awaiting what would happen once she stepped through the front door of the ranch house.
Lucas parked along the side of his house and was striding to meet her when she came to a complete stop and removed her seat belt. He swung open her door, lifted her effortlessly off the seat and, taking long strides, carried her up the porch and into the house.
“Can we do this?” he asked Michelle.
She knew what he was asking her. She wanted to tell him she’d wanted him for so long that she couldn’t remember when she didn’t. “Yes, Lucas. We can do this. I really want it.”
“Stay,” he said to Flash when he attempted to come indoors. Using his foot, Lucas shut the door, then mounted the staircase, taking the stairs two at a time.
Michelle felt as if time had stood still when she found herself in Lucas’s room and on his bed. There wasn’t enough light in the room to see his face, but she felt his sexual tension as surely as if it was her own. He hadn’t bothered to draw the drapes at the floor-to-ceiling windows. The nighttime sky with millions of stars would be the only witnesses to something she’d longed for since the first time she saw Lucas Brandt. She hadn’t known when their eyes met then that it would come to this.
“I’m not on birth control,” Michelle said when she felt the side of the mattress dip as Lucas got into bed with her.
“Don’t worry about that,” he said in her ear. “I’ll protect you.”
Time seemed to slow as he leisurely removed her clothes until she lay naked and vulnerable to his gaze. Then, he opened the drawer in the bedside table, took out a condom and slipped it on. She closed her eyes, sighing.
“Breathe, baby,” Lucas urged when he placed his hand on her belly.
“I’m trying,” she gasped, but the warmth from his large hand stirred feelings she’d thought long dead. She had buried certain passions, with no intention of resurrecting them in the future. Not until she met Lucas Brandt.
Her breathing quickened, coming in short gasps when his hand moved lower between her thighs. Michelle wasn’t certain when his mouth replaced his fingers as she was offered the most exquisite lovemaking she’d ever experienced.
Lucas truly did become that big dog as he licked and gently nipped every inch of her body until she moaned as if in pain. Pains of pleasure as her whole being flooded with desire.
Suddenly, he shifted so she was on top of him. And then it was her turn to offer him as much pleasure as he’d given her.

Lucas realized he’d made a mistake allowing Michelle to sit astride him. He groaned when she nipped his earlobe before she began her journey to map his body with her mouth. She kissed his chin, then ventured lower to his throat and still lower over his chest, licking and tasting him.
He stopped her before she could go any lower. He feared what he’d waited for so long would be over too soon.
He shifted their positions again, and looking into her half-closed eyes, Lucas eased his erection inside her warm body. As he felt her flesh close around him, he knew he’d found the woman with whom he wanted to spend the rest of his life.
Lucas lay in Michelle’s scented embrace long after they’d climaxed together. But eventually he knew he had to get up to discard the condom and let Flash into the house. She moaned softly when he pulled out.
When he returned to the bedroom, he found her asleep. He crawled in bed next to her, his mind in tumult about doing what Ethan had warned him about. It’d only been weeks since he’d danced with Michelle for the first time, and now she was sleeping next to him in his bed. Sleeping together meant one day he hoped she would be living in his house.
Lucas ran a hand over his face. He, who didn’t have an impulsive bone in his body, had fallen head over heels in love with a woman he hadn’t known a month.
Did he want Michelle in his house?
Yes.
Did he want her in his bed every morning and night?
Yes.
And did he want her in his life?
Yes!
