“I was joking.”
“Speaking of things that dislike you…” I held up one finger, unable to contain my grin. “Guess who’s coming to Black Devil with us? Guess!”
Logan, Lachlan, Amaia, and Makena were all coming along with me to Archie and Aurora’s! For the first time ever, I’d have most of my favorite people with me.
“Freckles?” The groan was immediate. “So I need to pretend to like him for two whole months?”
My lips split into a grin, knowing he’d started to like Lachlan. “You could never pretend.”
“I can do anything for you,” he whispered. “Only for you, baby. Especially when you ride—”
I planted my palm on his mouth. “Shh! There are werewolves everywhere!”
“Then let’s go to my place.” He dropped his head onto my shoulder, snickering. “Bet they could hear you anyway…”
“Logan,” I spit out through a giggle. “Behave! Plus, it’s Killian’s birthday!”
“So? You came. Now we can go.” He kissed my neck, arms still belted around me.
“I just got here!”
“But I cleaned my room for you.”
“No, Logan. I need to give Killian his present. He told me he’s always wanted a terrarium kit. And we should at least invite him for a drink—!” I squealed when a pair of fangs nibbled my mark.
He gave me a crooked, thoroughly unrepentant grin. “I just want to fuck the love of my life into tomorrow and then fall asleep with her in my arms…and her cute drool on my chest.” He clicked his tongue, giving his head a small shake. “Is that too much to ask?”
“Excuse me?” I crossed my arms. “My drool?”
His grin grew wider.
“Where’s the birthday boy anyway?” I asked, scanning the bar. Since Killian and Callum were twins, technically it was Callum’s birthday too, but he and Amaia had escaped on a romantic getaway to the mountains, just the two of them.
“Hello, Comet girl! Terminator here was moping until you arrived!” Dylan and Tank Man joined us.
“I still kicked your ass in darts.” Logan smirked, caging Dylan in a headlock.
We chatted, Logan’s fingers drawing circles over the back of my hand. These boys were incapable of being serious for more than five seconds, always loud, always laughing.
Right then, our birthday boy strolled in with a megawatt grin, both arms thrown over two leggy she-wolves, a bottle of whiskey dangling from one hand. One girl was giggling at something he said, and the other was busy kissing his neck.
“I thought there was a third chick.” Dylan gestured with his chin toward the trio.
“There was.” A small smirk played on the corner of Tank Man’s mouth. “He left her behind…to recover.”
Dylan let out a whistle, while Logan didn’t seem impressed at all. He used to have threesomes all the time.
Logan glanced at me, hand squeezing mine. “You okay?”
I smiled back, my cloudy thoughts gone. I did say he was the sun!
“Let’s go say hi to Killian,” I offered, and Logan nodded with a fresh grin.
What happened next was anything but funny.
Killian, laughing boisterously with the two girls in his arms, went rigid all of a sudden.
He lifted his nose, sniffing once, twice, nostrils flaring.
