That was when I realized he’d started transforming.

The scent of sage overwhelmed me, and the gold in his eyes flickered to a deep blue. His ears pointed slightly, his already firm muscles bulged, and snakes of water coiled around his body, shredding his clothing in the process. His shaggy blond hair became soft and blue, and those snakelike streams of water formed a toga-like shape across his chest and a crown of ivy around his head. Several more streams rose around him, like an army at the ready. He rolled his neck, and he looked down his nose at me, with a face that reflected a completely different monster.

Marcus was…

The Aquarius.

Marcus. Not Adrian.

“You’re—”

“A vampire?” He cut me off playfully, though I knew he understood what I was actually going to say. “Or did you not expect me to be a Zodiac Shifter?” He chuckled, deep and cruel, though something about his demeanor seemed considerably less out of body and out of control than Adrian had seemed. It suddenly made sense that he was in the astrology club and was so obsessed with the stars. Was everyone in my class like them?

“Y-you’re a hybrid. And a Leo. Doesn’t that mean you shouldn’t shift this month?” I backed away slowly as I spoke, but there was little room to retreat in this small pool. “You should need a trigger, right?”

“Look at you, so knowledgeable about a world you just barely become a part of.” He stayed where he was, not following me so much as a step. “You’re correct on all counts. But triggers, Baby Doll, can be so many things. Sometimes it’s a word, sometimes it’s a feeling, and sometimes it’s as simple as the fact that there’s no reason a water bearer should ever get wet.” He lifted a hand to eye level, and the water snakes weaved around his arm.

Water was his trigger? That was why neither of them came into the pool earlier.

He laughed and shook his head, before he added, “But then, you didn’t want to go this whole little getaway without getting to see it, did you? Ever since you got to experience the Capricorn, you wanted to know what it would be like to feel the Aquarius inside you.”

The water in the pool started to bubble, and a massaging pressure started climbing up my legs. I bit my lip to hold in my gasp as that pressure crawled up my inner thigh. “How did you know about—”

“He’s my brother, Lila.” There was no need to explain who ‘he’ referred to.

My mouth dropped open, but I was at a loss for words. “Professor Karras is your brother.” I repeated absently.

“Half-brother.” He offered. “You didn’t notice that we have the same cheekbones?” The snark felt on point for him. Somehow, unlike when I’d looked into the vacant stare of Adrian’s Capricorn, Marcus still seemed squarely in control. “But I promise you’ll enjoy your time with me much, much more.”

With those last words, jets of bubbles barraged my clit with intense vibration that pulsed in steady bursts, and my knees immediately buckled under the shockwaves that sent through my body. Tentacle like streams wrapped around my waist and my wrists to catch me from falling, and they held me up by forcing my hands up and over my head.

I was completely exposed, while those pulses continued, vibrating small circles and creating light pressure with inhuman consistency. Every low rumble felt like climbing another rung higher on a ladder of pure ecstasy, and I was losing my ability to think straight, the closer I got to the top.

Marcus remained just a few feet away, controlling the tempo, the pressure, and the movements with the subtlest shifts in his expression. His eyes bore into me as I shamefully found myself gasping for air and losing my composure, while helplessly climbing into bliss.

“M-Marcus, this is…t-too much.”

“What’s too much?” The vibration shifted tempos, and I drew in a sharp gasp at the new lightning crawling through my core. “This?” Another vibration teased my pussy, while the pulses rounded my clit.

“M-Marcus, please.” I whimpered, and I jerked my hands in the restraints that held them over my head. My body teetered dangerously between euphoria and overstimulation, and I was too drunk on the vibrations to care.

Marcus smirked as I felt my core tighten. As my clit throbbed and my pussy started to clench in blissful spasms. As I lost all ability to think straight or function or form coherent words.

He held eye contact like it was the tether that kept us together, and he moistened his lips as I lost my soul to those vibrations. I could barely breathe when he pulled back his control of the water, allowing me much needed relief.

“Want to see what else I can do with this power?” Marcus’ every question sounded like a threat, but still, he was nothing like the terrifying beast that had been the professor.

He was nothing like… his brother.

When Adrian had changed—when he touched me—

“Oh no, no, no—I can’t have you thinking of him right now.” His voice entered my mind directly, forcing my attention back to the present, and my eyes rounded at the realization.

He was speaking to me through my mind. He was reading my mind. Immediately I thought back to all the times I’d been certain I’d heard his voice in my head. Every instance where he acted on my thoughts that I’d never voiced out loud.

How long has he been reading all of my thoughts? Could Adrian read my mind too?

“It’s a gift that comes with being half vampire.” He answered aloud for me. “So to answer your question…” He switched to speaking to me in my mind again. “I’m the only one who can find you in here.”
