Tut seemed to have made himself at home on my sofa, but I didn't mind. I actually liked the way the big black dog was lounging there, it made me feel as if this was an actual home.
"Morning," I said.
Seth turned and smiled at me. "Hey. How are you feeling?"
"Good." I thought about it for a moment. "Actually, really good."
He set down his pan and stepped towards me, pulling me into his arms. "I'm glad. That's exactly how I wanted you to feel."
"Though I'm hungry."
"I'm not surprised, we never actually ate last night," he reminded me. "That's why I thought I'd make us breakfast." He gestured behind him to the kitchen sides that were covered in various pots.
"That's really sweet."
"And something I hope you'll let me do a lot more."
"Cook for me? Or stay the night?" I teased.
"I'd be on board with both," he responded.
"Is that your way of saying you want a relationship with me?" My pulse raced as I waited for his response.
"I would."
"Even though I'm a goddess?"
"Especially because you're a goddess."
I raised an eyebrow. "I thought you considered it best to avoid all other gods."
"You've shown me the error of my ways," he joked. "But actually, there is some truth in that. I've been meaning to reach out to some of my old friends for a long time, and I finally have. It turns out that the god realm really isn't so bad."
"Tut certainly doesn't seem to think so," I said, gesturing to where the dog was lounging.
"Hmm, he does seem rather at home, doesn't he?"
"You'll have to tell me what dog food to get, and help me pick out a bed so he doesn't have to sleep on the sofa when you both come to visit."
Seth chuckled. "If you think he won't just keep using the sofa anyway, then you're going to be really surprised."
"He's welcome to it," I responded. "I like seeing him run around the oasis. He seems happy here."
"He's not the only one," Seth murmured, leaning in and capturing my lips with his.
The kiss wasn't like the ones from the night before, it was tender and full of promise for what was to come. I leaned into it, glad that I'd chased after him after he'd run out of speed dating.
We broke apart, both grinning widely.
"So, breakfast? What needs doing?"
"Oh, nothing much, I just have to put the steaks on and start the eggs."
"We're still having steak?"
"I didn't want to waste them," he responded. "Though if you'd prefer something else, we can have that?"
I shook my head. "Be my guest and make the steaks. I'll put some coffee on. I have the best beans from one of the shops down here."
