I snapped a photo, knowing that it was risky, but I sent it to O just in case. He responded with a question mark, and I gave him the rundown.
O: Ezra, get out of there now.
Me: Why? I have a perfect chance to see where this is going.
O: I don’t want either of them to see you. Senator Cox isn’t dumb. He knows who we are, and if he is our culprit, I have a bad feeling.
Me: Everything is fine.
O: Seeing Xiomara isn’t worth the danger.
I scowled, hating that he knew me so well.
O: Wait for them outside before he sees you.
Me: Fine.
I watched them for a moment, catching a glimpse of Xiomara in the crowd. She looked stunning in a thong and a corset that pushed her tits out. Her long hair was curled in cascading waves down her back while her makeup was dark and smoky. She looked like a goddess of witchery, fuckery and sex. My mind screamed to go to her until she walked up to the senator's table with an uncomfortable smile.
She stayed clear of Senator Cox and stood next to Senator Daniel. Her body language said she was uncomfortable and all I wanted to do was to go and save her. I couldn’t leave her alone with that asshole, so I stayed right where I was. Her shift would be over soon, I could just see how she was doing. Then I could make sure she got home ok and go back to following Cox.
It was Wednesday and it definitely showed. The senators talked for a little before leaving together to the black room. Xiomara watched them and went back to work as soon as they disappeared. Feeling a little better, I left before I was seen.
Forty- five minutes later, Xiomara exited the employees’ entrance. I hopped the fence, timing the cameras and blacking out the spot where her car was, to wait for her. She looked down at her phone, walking obliviously towards me.
I knocked on her car to give her some warning, but she screamed anyway.
I mouthed the words I wanted to, holding my hands up so she could see I wasn’t a dangerous person—well, a dangerous person who wanted to hurt her. I only wanted to fuck her and bring her pleasure.
“What the fuck, Ezra,” she said, looking around. “Get in the fucking car before someone sees you,” she said, opening her door and then unlocking mine.
I took out my pad, smiling as I scribbled something quickly.
“Ezra, you can’t just show up like this,” she sighed.
The exhaustion in her voice had me looking up and finally seeing how tired she looked. I scratched out what I was writing to write something new.
What's wrong? Are you ok?
She read the paper, starting her car, holding onto the steering wheel as she exhaled loudly.
“I’m fine, just tired,” she said softly.
She sounded sad.
I’ve missed you. Holding out the paper so she could see what I wrote.
“Ezra.”
I didn’t like the tone of her voice.
Xiomara. I wrote.
“Look, we had fun, but—”
I shook my head, stopping her from finishing her sentence.
No. I mouthed, getting angry and frustrated that I couldn’t just talk to her.
