Dalton opened the door, a soft smile on his face. “Hey, you.”

I smiled back and glanced over his shoulder to see Cora bouncing happily in her portable seat.

“Figured you probably needed to get dressed and head down soon,” I said gently.

He nodded. “Yeah, thanks. If it’s okay with y’all, I was gonna grab a quick breakfast to go before I head out.”

“We’ll both be there to watch you again.” I assured him.

There was a beat of silence. Something quiet and charged passed between us—not awkward exactly, but . . . aware. His daughter was right there, and yeah, she was only six months old, wouldn’t remember a thing—but still. The air was thick with the what happens now hanging between us.

He leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to my lips. “I’ll see y’all later,” he murmured.

I swallowed hard as the door clicked closed behind him.

I turned to Cora, scooping her up with a giddy laugh. “Dammit, Cora girl,” I whispered, nuzzling her cheek, “why’d you have to have the hottest, sweetest dad in the world?”

She squealed, and I laughed, spinning us in a slow, goofy little dance around the hotel room.

A knock pulled us out of the moment.

I paused, grinning. “You forget something?” I said, pulling the door open.

It wasn’t Dalton.

It was Harleigh with a tray of food in one hand and coffee in the other. Her expression was pure mischief.

“Don’t you dare try to close this door on me, missy,” she said, shouldering her way in. “You’ve got a lot to tell us.”

“Us?” I blinked, arching a brow at Harleigh as she strolled in like she owned the place.

Right on cue, Fable came barreling down the hall in socks and a messy ponytail. “Don’t forget about me,” she called, sliding into the doorway with a grin.

Oh god.

Fable shut the door behind her as Harleigh set down the tray of muffins, croissants, and coffee.

“You two are way too excited for this,” I muttered, shifting Cora higher on my hip before she could start grabbing at the food.

Harleigh popped the lid off her coffee and smirked. “Well, we weren’t expecting a shirtless Dalton to show up at our door to relieve us from baby duty this morning. Figured you two were having a nice long . . . chat.”

Fable snorted. “You fucked him.”

My entire face went up in flames. “Ugh,” I groaned, tossing my head back. “Yes. Okay? I did.” I threw one hand in the air, Cora bouncing on my hip.

Both girls gasped and squealed at the same time, grabbing pastries like they needed carbs to process.

“Okay, but wait—how was it?” Harleigh asked, already halfway through a muffin.

“Was it like a slow burn or a rip-your-clothes-off-and-break-the-hotel-bed situation?” Fable asked, mouth full.

“Jesus Christ,” I groaned, covering my face with my free hand. “Y’all are feral.”

They burst out laughing.

“You’re the feral one,” Harleigh said. “We only brought coffee.”

“You brought judgment,” I shot back, but I was grinning too. “Judgment and muffins.”
