With a sweet, eager smile, Airida sank his face between my legs. His tongue slid inside, and I felt the rush of wetness as he withdrew. Then he was lapping at me, drinking us down. “Moonlight, we taste so good together.”

How was that both hot and romantic? I tapped my lips. “Yeah? Show me.”

He lay down, tugging me gently on top of him, and slicked his tongue into my mouth.

I caught it with my teeth, sucking on it, tasting both of us. “You’re right. We do.” I shuffled down his body and lay my head on his chest. “So you kept that quiet.”

“What?”

I trailed my fingers above the root of his dick. “This. I can’t believe I hadn’t noticed it before.” But the texture here was new. “What did Kira call it? Soo-li? Soo-la?”

“Suhla.” He covered his face with one big palm. “I knew the word, but to my shame, I did not know what it meant.”

It meant I should have taken all of that big dick weeks ago. “You’re not hiding any other secret anatomy I should know about?”

A melodic, rumbling laugh shook his chest, and he gave a slow, satisfied exhale. “No, not that I know of. But speaking of Kira, I understand now.”

“Understand what?”

“Why Reskavi calls her his kamevi.”

“I’ve heard that. What does it mean?”

“Goddess. And you”—he kissed the top of my head and ran his hands down the length of my body—“are a goddess, taamthi.”

As if in confirmation, my comm chirped. I reached a languid hand over and glanced at the screen. “It’s Reskavi!”

“What does he say?”

“He says ‘It is safe. I will meet you at the cave entrance.’” The guy had no conversational skills over text, apparently, but whatever.

Safe.

Warmth bloomed in my chest, spreading outwards, even my aches and pains fading in the wave of relief. “It’s over, kitten. We can go home.”

Airida frowned. “Why didn’t he comm me? I thought we were friends.”

“Of course you are. Does it matter?” I wiggled my fingers in his armpit, delighted to discover he was, in fact, as ticklish as humans.

He gripped me tight, an amused, bemused grin on his face. “If that is why you dislike light touch, then I understand.”

I gave him a lazy kiss. “Close enough. But let me up. You can show me how good you are with those fingers once we’re home.”

Dead Kri'ith Walking

Can't wait to see you both! We’re on our way.

“They’re already there,” Airida said, holding out the datapad. Two life signs. Our friends.

I’d have preferred to wear the cloaking devices regardless, but Daiytak hadn’t been kidding when she said not to get them wet. I clipped mine to my tunic anyway, but it only flickered, making a sad sound when I turned it on.

We picked our way along the path, tired, sore, and happy.
