“We’re trying to have dinner here,” I say, my voice clipped.

He doesn’t so much as glance my way. “One song. What do you say, sweetness?”

Star tilts her head like she’s giving it some thought. “Maybe later.”

“I’ll hold you to that.” He taps the table twice and walks off.

Star turns back to me, looking all innocent. “You were saying, Flint?”

“Maybe later?” I repeat, frowning. “You’re going to dance with that asshole?”

“Shhhhh.” She widens her eyes at me. “He can hear you.”

“I don’t give a shit. I hope he hears me. He’s an asshole.”

“No, he isn’t. He wanted a dance, that’s all. Dancing is nice. It’s fun. He was polite about it.”

Is she for real?

“He doesn’t want to dance.”

“Of course he does.”

“He wants to fuck you, Star. That’s the beginning, the middle, and the end of it.”

“So what if he does?” She sips her beer. “That’s what people do, Flint. They fuck.”

“No, they do not.” I’m seriously pissed off now. “Are you trying to make me jealous? Is that what this is?”

“No. Not at all.” She puts her glass down. “I wouldn’t do that. What’s wrong with you?”

Shit!

What is wrong with me?

I need to calm the fuck down.

“Can we please move on? You were saying…?” she says.

I pull in a breath and let it out slowly.

I take a sip of my beer and nod. “Yes, I—”

Before I can pick the story back up, the waitress is back, and this time there’s a shot glass on her tray. Something layered, pink, and very creamy. She puts it down in front of Star.

“That’s a Multiple Orgasm.” She points across the room. “From the gentleman right over there.”

The asshole raises his beer.

Star picks the shot up and looks at him.

“Don’t!” I practically growl. “Don’t drink it.”

“What, Flint?” She lifts a brow. “It’s not like we’re together. What’s gotten into you?”

“You’re not together?” The waitress lights up like it’s her birthday. She plants both hands on the table and leans in, and her tits are right there, in my face. I wish I could put a hand on her shoulder and move her back a foot. I don’t. “I’m Lisa, by the way, and I get off at—”

Star drinks the stupid shot.
