“Except, we’re supposed to be sleeping. The pattern is sex, sleep, sex, breakfast, remember? We have to keep it balanced, otherwise too much of a good thing is--” Soft skin glides across my cleft, as he rubs his shaft against me. “So good.”

“Exactly.”

Teeth pinch the delicate skin of my throat, as he moans against me, his cock already hard again. This man is relentless.

The ringing of a phone brings it all to a screeching halt, and his moan is a growl. He twists away to answer it, lifting himself up onto his elbow.

“Hello.”

Bonjour, I mouth, and he smiles, massaging the back of my head.

From what little I can hear through the speaker, the man on the other end seems to have a thick Spanish accent, but I can’t make out the words. Leaning forward, I run my tongue over Thierry’s nipple and feel his fingers dig into my crown, curling around a fistful of hair.

“When?”

Flicking my tongue has him shifting against my mouth, and when I glance up at him, his eyes carry a warning.

So, of course, I take his cock in hand.

“This weekend?” He eases back onto the pillow and pinches the bridge of his nose, while I swirl the small bit of fluids over the tip of his cock. “I can do that, yes. Consider it done.”

When he clicks out of the call, he shoves my hand away, sending a twinge of hurt through me, like a light slap to the face.

Turning away, he sits on the edge of the bed, quiet for a moment. “I have to go to Texas.”

“For what?”

“Business. But I don’t want to leave you here.”

“Is this cartel business? Why go? To hell with them.”

“It’s not that easy, chère. I have to tread carefully with them. Even the slightest suspicion could mean a bullet to the skull. And that would be merciful. I have to play along. I’ve not been to the club in three days, and someone has probably taken notice.”

“Well, I’ll go with you, then.”

“Absolutely not. It’s too dangerous.”

“So, I sit here by myself, twiddling my thumbs, hoping you come back alive?”

“No. You’ll stay with Luc.”

Luc? I don’t even know Luc. “Look, I came down here to find out about my mother. And my father. But what if we leave? What if we sail off?”

“And Frannie?”

“Jailbreak. We’ll bring her with us. It’s better than her staring through a barred window every day.”

“We’d be hunted. Every day. Every hour. And with their connections, it’d only be a matter of time before they find us.”

“You’re not afraid, Thierry. I’ve seen that wild glint in your eyes. The cold killer.”

“And if it were just me, I would.” He doesn’t have to say the rest. Even if I dared myself to admit that I could possibly be one of his weaknesses, he also has his sister to think about.

“So, when do you leave?”

“Day after tomorrow. I’ll stay overnight in Houston, and be home the next day.”

Which means two days of agonizing over whether he’s alive, or dead. “This is what you were going to barter me for. Your freedom.” I don’t wait for his nod. “There has to be another way out of this.”
