“Yeah, you’re young enough to have them still, aren’t you?”

“Well, yeah. We haven’t talked about it.” But she really did like the idea. She always wanted to have a lot of children.

He patted her shoulder. “Don’t worry. We’ll figure everything out.”

She snorted. “When did you become the parent?”

He smirked. “For quite a while. You just didn’t notice.”

They pulled into a restaurant behind Roman and parked.

She looked over at her son and wondered how she had made this wonderful child. Her spirits lifted. Their future was definitely looking a lot brighter.

Chapter Twenty-Three

Beth turned off the car and watched Jayden scramble out.

She turned when there was a tap on her window.

Roman opened her door and helped her out. He wrapped an arm around her waist and followed Jayden into the family restaurant.

“Jayden might have some questions about Evan or us. We talked a bit on the way here.”

Roman nodded. “I’ll answer whatever questions he has.”

The place wasn’t that busy, so they were seated right away. Roman and Beth sat on one side and Jayden on the other side of the booth. Their drink orders were taken right away, and the waitress left to get them.

Roman looked at Jayden. “Do you have any questions about the situation that maybe I can answer?”

“Yes. When are we flying to Vegas?” Jayden said and then grinned.

Roman looked shocked for a moment and then chuckled. “That wasn’t the situation I was talking about, but I would love to talk about us. I would choose as soon as possible, I think. What do you think?” he asked the boy.

“I agree. Why waste any more time?”

Beth laid her face in her hands and shook her head, making both guys laugh. She looked up at her son. “Not five minutes ago, I was telling myself how amazing you are, and you just ruined it.”

Jayden laughed. “Sorry, Mom.”

“No, you’re not,” she hissed.

Roman shrugged. “I’m not sorry.”

Beth’s eyes widened as she turned to Roman. “You’re not helping.”

He smirked and then reached across the table to fist bump Jayden, making them both laugh and her groan.

“What am I getting myself into?” she whispered.

Jayden turned back to Roman. “Let’s talk about children. I need some siblings. Don’t you think?”

Roman grinned. “I agree. How many do you think you’d want?”

“As many as you two can supply me. I’ve been neglected for close to thirteen years, and it has to stop.”

She narrowed her eyes at him. “You’re incorrigible.”

Jayden snorted. “Mom, that’s one of my better traits.”
