Roman shrugged and stared at her.
“What?” she asked self-consciously.
“I know you’re beautiful, but it seems you get more so every time I see you.”
Both adults chuckled when Jayden started making gagging sounds behind them.
“Oh, stop, you guys,” he pleaded with his hands pressed to his neck.
“Fine. But you might want to turn your back because I’m going to kiss her.”
“I’m out of here. Call me when you’re ready to cook.” Jayden scurried out of the room.
Roman started stalking toward her.
“What are you doing?” she asked as she stepped backward.
“I’m going to kiss you.”
She swallowed nervously at the predatory look on his face and then gasped when her back hit the counter behind her, and then Roman’s body pressed against hers. The heat and scent of him bled into her pores as she stared up at him.
Chapter Fourteen
He cupped her face and studied her. She didn’t look upset so much as sad. “What’s wrong?”
She shook her head. “Nothing.”
His eyes narrowed. The dominant side wanted to demand an answer but knew it was too early in their relationship for that. Besides, he’d get it out of her eventually. But he let it go for the moment. He lowered his head and took her lips, gently pressing over her mouth before diving in and letting his tongue duel with hers. He raised his head when a groan escaped from both of them.
All he had to do was touch her, and they ignited. Hell, just seeing her, smelling her scent, or hearing her made his blood heat and rush through his veins.
“Hi,” he murmured.
She had her hands curled around his thick wrists and stared at him. “Hi.”
“Are you hungry, baby?”
She nodded. “I’m excited to see what you make.”
“You’ll love it. But we need to get to work, so you need to hightail it out of the room.”
“You mean I can’t even watch?”
“No, ma’am. This is men’s work.”
She snorted and rolled her eyes. “Fine, I’ll go read. Do you want me to yell for Jayden?”
“Sure. While you do that, I’ll start unloading.”
She chuckled and shook her head. “There’s only three of us,” she said and walked away.
He chuckled. “It makes good leftovers.”
Jayden was down before he’d got everything organized.
“Good. Now, where is your mom?”
“I think the office.”
