She narrowed her eyes when a grin crossed his face. Crap, she didn’t want him to know how much he affected her. She knew he’d use whatever he could to get her where he wanted her. Most likely bed.

“What if I have plans already?”

“Cancel them.”

Her spine stiffened. “What if they’re with my son?”

“Fuck,” he said and wiped a hand down his face. “Are they?”

She shrugged but quickly took a step back when he growled and stood to his full height and started toward her.

She gasped when her back hit the wall by the door.

He invaded her personal space and rested his hands on either side of her head and bent down to look into her eyes.

“Listen, little girl. I don’t think you realize how serious this is.”

She lifted her chin and noticed a spark of heat flared in his eyes. “I wouldn’t call it serious. What’s the big deal?”

A scowl darkened his face. “What’s the big deal? Are you fucking kidding me?”

“How did you get my number in the first place?”

“I’m the Captain. I think it’s only right to have the numbers of the important people I sometimes need to call on. Don’t you?”

“The thing is, Captain Mancini, you don’t need me to help translate, so I wouldn’t consider this important.”

He growled. “Are you trying to drive me crazy?”

She smirked and shrugged. “Maybe. What can I say, it’s a gift.”

She saw the emotions like excitement, desire, shock, and happiness cross his face before he swept one of his hands under her hair to cup the back of her head.

“Let’s see what you think after this.”

She opened her mouth to reply, but he swooped down and took her lips, and since her mouth was already open, he thrust his tongue in.

Instant fire scorched through her. She grabbed hold of his shirt with both hands and went on tiptoe to get closer. Her desire spiked with his growl of approval.

She had no idea how long they stood there before he jerked his head back and stared down at her.

“Fuck, woman.”

She hummed and slid her tongue over her bottom lip.

He narrowed his eyes, but the look on his face looked more like torture than anger.

“Are you going to mess with me anymore?”

She tucked her head against his chest, shook her head, and inhaled. She instantly regretted breathing in. She was trying to calm down, but the woodsy, masculine, musky scent that came off him made her panties sopping and uncomfortable.

“So, tell me now,” he asked gruffly. “Are you free on Friday?”

“Yes.”

He took a reluctant step away from her and wiped his mouth.

The way he stared at her, she thought she’d seen a hint of alarm in his expression. This man probably wasn’t afraid of much. Least of all, a little woman.
