“So now….” He smiles. “I’m going to kill everyone that you ever loved.”

I shouldn’t have come.

“What happened to you?” I whisper.

“You broke my fucking heart…. That’s what happened!” he cries through tears. “How does it feel, Valentino?” He stands in a rush and spits at me through the glass. “I fucking hate you,” he cries. “I hate you! You ruined my fucking life.”

Seeing him like this is too much to bear and I screw up my face in tears.

My heart aches.

The wardens run over and he struggles. “Don’t fucking touch me,” he screams, they pull him to his feet. “Stop, I’m not finished,” he cries, the warden punches him and I drop my head, unable to watch him go through this.

“Take me back, we’re still talking.” He’s completely losing his mind, and fights his way out the door, I hear him screaming, then I hear a hit connect and he cries out.

I close my eyes, he fights them all the way down the hall.

The room once again falls silent, the only sound…. My broken heart.

I was right, this was my fault.

I should have protected him.

Thump, thump…thump, thump….

CARLO

Revenge is a dish best served cold.

And I, I am the master chef.

I’m going to disembowel everyone who wronged me.

Paint the town with their blood.

And they will suffer…in pain…in their screams.

Until the very end.

“When will the money hit my account?” the warden whispers.

“Half now, and half when I’m out.”

“Six million.” He thinks. “I can’t do it alone, it will have to be when we do a prison transfer. I’ll need more money for the other guards.”

“You get me out of here and I’ll give you ten million.”

His eyes hold mine.

“Ten million dollars and I walk free,” I whisper.

He nods. “Deal.”
