“I want you,” I repeat.
His eyes flare.
“I want you too, Sweet.”
“No.”
He stills. I move closer.
“Listen to what I'm saying.”
His gaze locks onto mine.
“I want you, Damian.”
Something passes between us.
The bond.
The magic.
Maybe simply the truth.
But he understands. I'm not talking about sex.
Well, not only sex.
I lift my hand and touch his face.
“I want all of you.”
His eyes close for half a second. When they open again, the vulnerability there nearly breaks my heart.
“Belinda.”
“I'm still angry with you.”
“I know.”
“I still don't know what this bond is doing to me.”
“I know.”
“And I don't know what happens next.”
His hand covers mine against his cheek.
“We figure it out.”
“Together?”
His answer is immediate.
“Yes. Always, I mean, if that's what you want.”
There. No declaration that fate has already decided. No demand that I accept him because I'm his promised.
A choice. Mine.
